How about Kim Scott-Wood, this guy finished 42nd at this years Pro Worlds. He is sitting in second right now at AM Worlds. If you are good enough to cash against the best players in the world PLAY OPEN and leave the Am division to the amateurs.

Tiger Woods - 1994, 1995, 1996
Becomes the first golfer in history to win three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles. Wins the NCAA individual men's championship with a 69-67-69-80-285. Ties the British Open record for an amateur with a 75-66-70-70-281. Turns pro in August and immediately signs endorsement deals worth $40 million from Nike and $20 million from Titleist.

Maybe when that Dustin Dude wins his 3rd Amateur title, he will turn pro too and sign that huge f&*&%^$ endorsement deal. Guess he better step it up though, since he needs to win this one to make #1 of his titles!!

Why don't you guys spend your time figuring out how to get Million Dollar payouts so the "Real Pros" can have something to play for instead of being the GO PRO police. I'm sure Smitty, Babbit and Eric would love to play for a million dollars. Who knows, they might need a good caddy! :o

Hammer,

So you think he (Kim) should stay in the Am division and absolutely smoke the true Am's in the field. To put it in perspective he is a 975 rated player, Smitty is a 973. If Smitty played Am in the KDGA do you not think he would walk away with almost every tourney? I am an armature player and I know I would be donating every time I played in a tourney if Smitty was playing AM. All I'm saying is the PDGA needs to have a standard that makes you move according to your player rating.

So who MADE tiger woods move up and play PGA? Who MADE Michael Jordan enter the NBA draft? Last time I checked, there was not a sport on this earth that MAKES you play Pro. The PDGA DOES have a standard that MAKES you move up. If your player rating is 915 or higher you cannot play intermediate.

If you actually read this maybe it will make sense...

The Pro players are in their own category. We call them Professional Athletes. To become a Professional Athlete in any sport, you either declare yourself a pro, or play in a professional division and accept money for placing. That is the only way ANYONE can ever become a pro.

EVERYONE ELSE, those who do not play at a professional level, are considered Amateur. The top of the Amateur Division is Am1 or Advanced Amateur. All other sports have something that lures the amateur player to the pro's....MONEY$$$

If Disc Golf is going to be considered a sport, then NO ONE can ever say you HAVE to play pro. It's that simple. As far as you thinking you are just donating, you have two options. Get better. Or move down. I wouldn't recommend the later since you have to play tough competition to get better.

I'm really tired of this debate too. Football, Hockey, Golf, Basketball, Track, "F"in Cards even have professional divisions and amateur divisions. YOU have to make the decision to move up to pro, not some guidelines!
So tell me? Who has a resume like Tiger Woods in disc golf? Who won 3 straight US Amateur Titles in disc golf???

Dustin may want a few more wins before accepting pro cash. He has 3 in the last four years. He has also been enjoying a new baby and softball the past year. http://nebdisc.7host.com/news/0051.htm is a little interview after the '03 Am World's, for those of you who might be interested.

I gotta say though, it will be nice when this crop of Am Chuckers goes Pro. It's been a loooong time in the making.

After round six, V-Dub is 8th at 308, DJ (Dustin) at 13th with 310.

maybe the tourneys should split the moneys better . heres what i mean. you take a novice that wants to play a tourney like the am worlds. he finds he playing against other novices but also against am 1 and am2's his chances to place in the "money" are slim to none. Sure every one wants to get better and we all try to get better. but some might just not be capeable of doing so. i will never be able to throw as long as the majority of the Am 1's again. if there was some way to figure out what levels people are besides the point standing as a standard. for instance i don't play enough tourneys to have a decent point standing . so how would the level of play be set for a person like me?? I guess I'm just saying i feel for some of the guys out there that try so hard and then find out they are up against 10 other guys who have sandbagged the playing field. throwing against a "should be pro" that isn't yet ,just because he hasn't won alot of tourneys as an am, and doesn't feel ready. This isn't fair. .. hammer said one of the options is to get better .. well may be the sand baggers should move up to open and play pro and GET BETTER. ..I know I'm going to get razzed for my opinion so go ahead lay it on me.
