Smitty kicked ass.
People gritch about ratings so much. On the whole, however, they are amazingly accurate and predict outcomes amazingly well. Eric's round was in clearly more windy conditions. If I were to put a guess on it I would have said it was a two stroke difference in wind but I will go along with a one stroke difference.
It seems to me that there was some gritching about the hays round ratings not considering wind and I was surprised to hear that. Is that still the case after the official ratings came out?

I'm not saying that the system is not fairly accurate. I also think that the rating system was a great idea for disc golf. You can look at the divisional breakdown to see if you are a donator or a sandbagger.
What I'm complaining about is the fact that very little of the rating system is explained. I looked through the 15 or so links Kevin Lambdin posted the other day and found no specific info as to how they originated or how they are maintained. All these articles just beat around the bush.
Maybe there is a PDGA thread where Chuck spills his guts? I still don't know if the SSA has anything to do with the round ratings! Everybody has questions and some offer guesses for answers, but no one really knows.
