I would say the ones that are the easiest for the most members to get to. I think one idea with the points system with the supertour is that someone who can hit some of these events will do pretty well. The player who wants to hit more certainly gets rewarded for doing so, but the supertour events help to level the playing field.
For the answer to the question: I guess my thouhts would translate to "the events most attended by members."
Here is the breakdown of members by region. Note that these are the team challenge modified regions with regions 1 & 5 combined and region 4 split into Wichita and Winfield/Wellington.
Wichita: 37
Region 1,5: 22
Region 2: 21
Winfield/Wellington: 21
Region 3: 20
So Wichita brings in the most members (though 15 are int/junior division and "most" of this group doesn't play quite as many events). The other regions are mostly from 1 or 2 towns each (like Salina & Hays), except for region 2.
I think events that are centrally located for these towns bringing in the most members are good for supertour events. We have tried to balance this with 3 events from each region. This gives everyone a shot at hitting some double point events and also kinda showcases each region and their bigger tourneys. That is another function of the "supertour": It shows that KS has at least 15 big events per year and which ones those are.
One question I've had is "what decides where the region boundaries are?" Memberwise, it makes sense to combine region 1 & 5 and split Wichita from Winfield. Geographically though, it may be fairer to those doing more driving to keep them like they are. What we are doing is working so changing just for changing may not be best.
Region 2 is the big question. This region may have more golfers that any other, yet the member*tourney attendance from this region is the lowest. I'm guessing that this is partly because the KCFDC is so successful and there are so many good courses up that way. Partly because events out in "central KS" are so much farther. I'm curious what the NE Kansas' who haven't joined up or who haven't renewed think about the KDGA. It just doesn't seem like many but a few have made it to many KDGA events or the finals or the State Championships or such. I do think that as the KDGA continues to grow, so will the reputation.
Reputation is something we should continue to think about and re-evaluate. Generating revenue for good causes is something that both members and those on the outside looking in can approve of. On the other side of the coin, having lots of quality tournaments that are tons of fun is something the KDGA has mastered and members have come to expect. There are a lot of us that sign up every year!

Re: 2008 Tournament Attendance
Did anyone use this thread? I'll probably update it less often this year. Member numbers change as people sign up.

Re: 2008 Tournament Attendance
The thread I like is the one that tells you how many tournaments you've been to.
