What's cooking at Treasure Cove in '09

Post by wlbkr »

Saturday, April 18, "Walk the Plank" - Amateur Only PDGA sanctioned "C" Tier (the Omaha "B" tier Pro-AM Spring Fling is the next day)

Saturday, July 25, "Treasure Cove Tweener" - Pro Only Non-Sanctioned Up to $3000 added cash nicknamed "The Tweener that you'll Love"
This tournament is the tweener Saturday between the First Class Challenge in Des Moines and the 09 Worlds in Kansas City. Our goal is to get the best/most World rated players we can get, then attract the best locals for a great payout 1 day tournament right before Worlds.

Way to go Mike! If more people would go against the PDGA and add fat cash and not sanction their events. Maybe the PDGA would start catering to the players a little more.

You the man!

Does that mean I may actually get to see you play the Cove this year Smitty? :) Your presence up here has been long overdue and hugely anticipated. Hope you can make it buddy.

Man, I wish!

I know that I am playing worlds. That will be a week away from home. That makes it hard to take off and play the weekend before.

I just think it is PIMP that you are going to have a killer event that isn't PDGA sanctioned.

I would like to see a series of 10 events that all had HUGE payouts and no PDGA affiliation. Yours could be one of them. I am sure the Lodge in Oklahoma could be another. I am sure there is at least we could do atleast 1 in Kansas. We are already a third of the way there and the travel makes since Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma. Throw in a Colorado or a Missouri and we are half way there. Before you know it we have someone like Nike or Adidas on board. Then the PDGA would be forced to put up some series money to bring some of the big dawgs back to their tour.

Sweet! We can drink and smoke? Count me in if I can make it. See my round ratings go from 920 to 1020 when I can have my medicine.

Iowa Western Campus

Sorry to curb your enthusiasm str8, but Iowa Western is a no alcohol, no smoking campus. :| But it does have great disc golf with a boat load of prize money.

Re: The Tweener is Cancelled

After all the feedback and research was on the table, I have decided to cancel the Tweener. It boiled down to this: most wanted that time to concentrate on Worlds.

I am planning on keeping the Walk the Plank Am only. My goal is to fill the field with 90+ ams.
