On a personal note, I will not be attending this year due to the format which makes for a top heavy tournament. It is awsome that you can bring in alot of big names, but pushing out the less skilled players to do it does not seem right. Last year there were 80 am 2 and am 3 players and that will be limited to 55 this year. This does not allow us to expose as many players to this great event as there ought to be. I do agree with whoever said make it two weekends(open, am). Good Luck

Sorry you feel that way Jerry. There are a few differences between this years event and last years event. The first and biggest being that it is an A-tier only, last year it was an A/B event. To participate in an A-tier, all competitors must be PDGA members.

Pushing people away could be one way to look at it, I guess. We are however running a tourney the same weekend only 3 blocks from Jones park, the GBOverflow. This event is a PDGA C-tier and will feature a 3 rounds of 13 format. This will allow all competitors the chance to earn 3 PDGA ratings. All competitors of the GBOverlow will get treated like all competitors in the GBO. Very similar players pack, players party, chance at the final 9 skins match.

Here are the numers from last years event, they are the numbers in ( ). The other number is the size of the divisions this year.

A pool
MPO 60 (60)
Masters 25 (25)
FPO: 5 (5)

B pool
Advanced 65 (60)
Advanced Masters 25 (20)

C Pool
MPG 10 (10)
MG1 10 (3)
MA2: 55 (55 MA2)/(18 MA3)
FW2 & FW3: 15 (13)

As you may notice the A Pool, the top players in the game is exactly the same numbers as last year. The B-Pool which is the top of the AM players actually going up by 10 players. The C Pool which is made of the lowest level AMs and Grandmasters had several divisions with greater numbers then last year. The Am Grandmasters is up 7 people and the women are up 2 people.

I hope that you don't miss out Jerry. It is only the Biggest and Best Pro/AM A-tier in the country. If I were you I would either pony up the PDGA fees and then get registered for the GBO or make you way to Emporia to play in the GBOverflow. It is going to be kick butt and I feel bad for anyone who misses this weekend.

I will probably make the overflow, but really hate missing out on the best tourney in KS. Maybe next year it will be different. Anyone needs a caddy on Sunday I should be available.

Intermediate division is full for the GBO. If you didn't get registered, you are not completely out of luck. There are still several opportunities for you to be part of this great disc golf weekend.

1) LAST CHANCE QUALIFYING- You can win the spot on Friday by shooting the best qualifying round. The initial cost is $20 (That will be applied toward your GBO entry) then each round after that will be $10. Play as many times as you would like.

2) ONLINE AUCTION- Starting the 1st of April DD will be running an online auction. The minimum bid will be the cost of the entry fee. The winner of the auction will get the last guaranteed spot for the division.

3) PLAY THE GBOVERFLOW- This event will feature 3 rounds of 13 holes. Competitors will get treated as well as GBO competitors. It will also allow you the opportunity to watch the best in the game battle it out for the GBO Championship on Sunday.

4) Play in a division above your rating or in an age protected division if you qualify.

Looks like Pro Masters will be next, with only 4 spots remaining.
