The shelter definitely has power and water. Will check on how potable/tasty the water is and whether there may be some slightly more remote power sources.

************* REAL DANG IMPORTANT ********************

Teams must notify Kindy by next TUESDAY AUG 9th in order to play. Call him, PM him, or post here.

If there are 4 or fewer teams :( this will be a Saturday only event.

************* REAL DANG IMPORTANT ********************

He must order players pack goodies by Tues night.

5,6,or 7 teams = round robin match play Saturday. 8 or more teams=pools. Top one or two teams on Saturday advance directly to finals Sunday afternoon. All remaining teams play-off Sunday morning using the method Kindy described earlier: Teams split themselves into duo which will play alternating shot and a 3some which plays best shot. Lowest combined team score moves to finals.

# of holes per match will be determined by the number of teams.

I just played Newton this morning (nicely mowed and cleaned up I must say) and I wasn't sure if anyone knew about the amount of bees by hole 20. The trees just to the right of the basket are infested with bees. I saw 2 initially and made a joke to my buddy about them looking like they were trying to do it right by where my disc landed. Then I went to pick my disc up and take my 2nd shot and quickly realized their were WAY more then 2. I would say at least 20-30 were flying around in that little area. Thought I would let someone know since that tourney is next weekend.

This just in................

KDGA members will receive 10 points for each day of the event. If we go 1 day 10 points to all members. If we get to go 2 days, all members will get 20 points.

Get your teams figured out and get that info to kindy.

Less than 4 days to sign up for this event. You want to be able to say, "Yeah, we won the first ever Kansas State Team Championships!"

Noticed the wasp/bees the other day. Will monitor further. I think it is a sign; bring your Discraft midranges.

Sorry I haven't been back out to check on RV hook-ups.

I'm excited to see all these new formats go down. Sunday is going to be heavy on strategy.

Thank you to the Swede for working on the forum to everyone. I am on the road in Michigan right now but will be home tomorrow. I know that we have three teams with a rumbling of a fourth team.

Smitty and Team, Newton Squad, Curtis Broadhurst and Team, and a rumbling that Crispin has a squad coming. Again the cutoff is Tuesday for letting me know on teams. You can pm or call: 316-288-8692 or email: [email protected]. I will post a picture of the trophy when I return to Kansas.

That format was nothing like this one. We just played and then added scores together. It was basically just anther tourney.

We will have no clue what anyone shoots for the weekend.

This is the first year for a true championships, and I hope it can continue and develop into something people want to play and talk about all year.

$45/player is too much money you say? I can't get a team together because it is too expensive?? Well...this just in...

WE ARE SLASHING PRICES!! Wheeling and dealing (literally) in the DD RV, Kindy-Cane has issued an executive order:

New cost per player is $30 !!! or $150/team. For that paltry sum you will receive a meal of smoked meat, a dry-fit shirt, free camping, one hell of a good time and the chance to call you and your pals the best, most well-rounded, steely-nerved, blood-thirsty disc golf team in 105 counties!!!

Spread the word, get your teams to Kindy as soon as possible with shirt sizes. Again, if there are four teams or fewer this Tuesday, we will settle the score Saturday only.

I hope this makes people scurry around and fieled a team.

Is the tourney ace fund included in that $30 or not?

To bad we are now going to miss out on 2 discs for 15 bones.

I just returned from Michigan. We will have an ace fund but it will only be $3 instead of $5. It is unfortunate that we are missing out on 2 discs for $15. Right now I know that we have three teams for sure. The team still in question is the team Crispin is bringing. If anyone knows about this team please let me know.

$30/player!!! Must sign up by Tuesday.

If we get 5 (or more) teams, here's how it will go down...

Saturday, each team will "Clash" with the other four teams. Team A's 5 members will each play a 9-hole match against their counterparts on team B. Each match is worth one point for a total of 5 possible points per Clash. The two teams Saturday that win the most Clashes get automatic bids to the finals. In the case of a tie, the team who won the heads-up Clash will advance.

Sunday morning the remaining 3 teams go to the MixMaster where they play 13 holes of stroke play. Teams choose 2 players to play alternating shot and 3 players to play best shot. The team with the lowest combined score advances to the finals.

The finals will be 13 holes of Simultaneous Match Play. Each player will play two matches at the same time. For example, player X and player Y birdey hole 1 but player Z pars; the scores are...

X vs Y -- Y vs Z -- Z vs X
0....0 -- 1....0 -- 0....1

Hole 2, X birdies, Y pars, and Z bogeys

X vs Y -- Y vs Z -- Z vs X
1....0 -- 2....0 -- 0....2

Each team has a chance to win 10 matches. The team with the most match wins in the finals is your 2011 Kansas Teams Champ.

In future years we will not have 3/5 (more than half) of the teams in the finals but we are excited to try all three formats.

I think simultaneous match play will hurt the competition because the whole purpose of match play is one-on-one. Say player A parks their tee shot and player B is 75 out and Player C is 70 out. If it was 1-on-1 Player B would run their 75 footer because they need a 2 to push the hole. But with Player C in the mix player B has to now think about laying up so he doesnt lose to both players.

I am not sure what the time constraints are but I think it would be better to have 1-on-1 matches.
