The Super 8 motel has offered a flat rate of $50 per night. The contact info is:

Super 8
3730 Vine Street
Hays, Ks. 67601
785-625-8048

You need to call the Hays # if you want the disc golf rate.

You may be able to get 10% more off if you are a PDGA member. I am pretty sure they are part of the chain that is doing that.

As soon as I get my passwords from the PDGA, I'll post who's pre-reg.

Are you doing the donations for tee signs this year?

Yes, and if anyone is interested in doing a sponsorship here are the details. I need to know by Friday if your interested.

Dear Potential Sponsor,

Hays' has it all! Including one of the most historic and well-respected disc golf courses in the nation. It's not our Country Club -- it's our Community Club! We invite you or your business to be a proud sponsor of the Professional Disc Golf Association’s 24th Annual Frontier Open Disc Golf Tournament September 8 and 9 in Frontier Park.

For a $25 donation we will provide the sponsor with a 1/4 tee sign and a 1/4 page ad in the players' booklet (tee signs are 1 x 2 foot). For a $50 donation we will provide the sponsor with a 1/2 tee sign and a 1/2 page ad in the players' booklet. For a $100 donation we will provide a full tee sign, a full page ad in the booklet and the sponsor's logo on the back of the T-shirts included in the players' package. For a $250 donation we will provide the same and the sponsor’s logo on Tournament Banners. For a $500 donation we will offer the title sponsorship. Checks should be made out to the Flying Bison Disc Golf Club. The FBDGC, KDGA, and PDGA are all non-profit organizations.

Sponsor acknowledgement for the 24thAnnual Frontier Open will be announced before the first round of competition and at the awards ceremony. A cash donation provides the most flexibility, but donations of merchandise are acceptable and will be used for prizes. Because some individuals are from out of town or state, we request no gift certificates.

Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. In the summer 2004 edition of Forbes FYI, an auxiliary publication that goes to Forbes Magazine’s subscribers, disc golf got some great mainstream exposure. For a full view of the article written by Thomas Jackson, visit forbes.com/business/fyi/2004/0524/041.html. When Forbes says disc golf is “joining the mainstream,” that’s a pretty good endorsement!

The Frontier Disc Golf course was among the first 113 courses built in the United States and the fourth in the state of Kansas. The tournament attracts local and out-of-state players. These individuals will seek lodging, visit local attractions, dine in our restaurants, and shop in our stores while participating in this event. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Brett E. Straight
Tournament Director

Welcome back Mark, I don't know if I'm playing dubs or not, but I'll spread the word your looking for a partner.

On another note we got the Innova discs and mini's in today. Looking good!

I hope to slip over to Hays on Sunday afternoon next weekend. I will be in Western Kansas for Labor day and Ruscos wedding.

Will the baskets be set up for the 1st round? Also do any baskets move after the first round? If not, I could hit all the holes in 2 rounds.

Thanks for the info.

1 last thing.

Have you given any thought to tee times for the final round? That would give people a chance to watch the final couple cards play.

Most places tee every 8-10 minutes. Then you wouldn't have to use any extra holes you would only need 18.

Start at 8:00 with the first card out. 6-7 groups could go out each hour. Last group would head out just after noon.

Just an idea.

awesome idea, id be up for this. It would also bide sometime to get everything ready for awards
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Maybe I don't follow you, but wouldn't that only give all players a total of 66 holes for the tournament? The PDGA sanctioning agreement was for 72 holes of golf. Wouldn't that screw up the round ratings? Plus, what if there are some close scores in any or all divisions and six holes could make a difference between $300 or $600? On top of that we've advertised this as is and some people have already pre-reg. I don't think some people would appreciate the last minute format change.

Also, after 48 holes of golf on Saturday and the player's party later that evening, would you want to tee off at 8am?

Maybe I just need some more details; however, presenting this idea less than two weeks before the tourney creates unwanted stress for the TD. Maybe next year, but my vote is a no.

I understand that is is probably to late to do it this year.

As far as ratings, it wouldn't mess with them at all.
