Norton Open Sunday August 7th
Norton Open Sunday August 7th
Welcome to Elmwood Park!
Norton is located in NW Kansas. Way NW! It is a "gem" of a park with a lot of different shots to challenge, so it's fun to play. As always, you could go camp out at Sebelius Lake, which is about 5 miles west of Norton. Kent has also been talking about some camping options out at his house, which is very close to the disc golf course and there is a ton of room there!
One year, a group of guys played as many disc golf courses as they could on the way to Norton! I can't remember how many but maybe Smitty, Randy M., or Scooba Steve (I think those were the guys, maybe, and were there any others) can fill in the deatails of what the record is. Could it be broken this year???
This is a fun tourney! If a bunch of you would carpool, you could save money on gas! If you have never tried this tourney, I invite you to give it a try. If you have tried it before, you know you liked it! Come on back!
$30.00 for Pro/Advanced Divisions
$25.00 for other Am. Divisions
(3 or more players makes a division).
Ace fund and KDGA fees are included!
This year players packs will include a custom stamped Discraft Pro D Challenger! Also included will be a paracord "survival" bracelet or key fob, your choice. I have been working on these for a while and I have enough. If we run out, I will make you one, so don't worry! First 20 players get a disc. Everyone gets paracord!
There will be handmade trophies for each division!
As per the past few years, this tourney is a couple weeks after Beloit, so you should be all rested up!

Thanks disclizard!
Registration will be Sunday 8:45 till 9:30. Players meeting will be at 9:45. I might be around Saturday evening in case some of you would like to register the night before! We might have to have a shortened lunch if they are going to do a softball tourney. I will wait and let you know for sure. This will be a two round tourney!
Let me know if any of you have more questions.

I am headed to Arkansas for a family weekend. When you told me the Farris Wheel was up and we would be throwing around it, you sparked my interest.
I haven't played Norton since Scooba, Randy, and I played over a 100 holes of golf on the trip there.
When Norton and Hays roll around it is about the only time I wish I still lived in Ransom.

So the record # of holes played on the way to Norton is 100. I am wondering if anyone can beat that this year! Have fun in The South!smitty wrote:I am headed to Arkansas for a family weekend. When you told me the Farris Wheel was up and we would be throwing around it, you sparked my interest.

May have been more. Here is what we played in order.
Hutch - 18
Great Bend Vets Park - 18
Great Bend College - 9 (Pretty Sure)
Hoisington - 9
Russell - 9 (Pretty Sure)
Hays Rolling Hills - 9
Hays Frontier Park - 18
Ellis - 18
WaKeeny - 9
Norton - 18
I stand corrected 117-135 holes was all we played. Not to mention we probably had multiple shots on some of them.
For the record we all sucked the next day.
Re: Norton Open Sunday August 7th
Did some trimming of WEEDS on some of the holes and around teebox #13. Got trophys finished. (they are different than anything I have seen). CTP's prizes are sorted and ready to go (Discraft hats, discs, a sweatshirt, mini, and stuff).
There will be added cash! There will be at least $100.00 added cash. This will be devided equally between any pro divisions (it will take 3 people to make a division).
We are planning on playing dubs on Saturday night. Right now time to start is 5:30 or 6:00. This will be random flip or mix and match.
Players list;
100%
Kent
James
dm4
Rodney Dyck
Chris Berens
People who have told us they may be making the trip;
Ron Converse
Salina Crew
Hays Crew
McCook Crew?
I haven't heard from anyone else.
No matter who shows for this, it will be fun!

Re: Norton Open Sunday August 7th
sorry man i really wish i could make it up for this . We are moving in a couple weeks to a house and its just hectic around here. If you have any of the discs with hot stamps left though I can buy one from you after the tourney . If you have minis from the tourney too I;ll buy one of them too. give me a couple weeks after to get my finances in order.

Don, Johnny and I should be in town Sat. in time for dubs. What are my motel options? Do I need to worry about them being full because of fair? Buddy
Re: Norton Open Sunday August 7th
Ron Convers? Really?
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
Re: Norton Open Sunday August 7th
Go kick his arse and make some money so you can come to newton.Ruder wrote:Ron Convers? Really?
