Moon Lake DGC

Post by scarpfish »

Just saw this on DGCR and Disc Golf Scene. Any of you Manhattan guys played this yet? Did they move the Riley Conference Center baskets here? I see that course is listed as gone now.

Yep, you are right Scott.

The baskets from the conference center are at Moon Lake.
The conference center was not going to be mowed so a group of soldiers got approval to move to Moon Lake. They created a layout that requires a good variety of shots. It is a lot more fun and challenging than the old Ft. Riley course. There might be a few flow issues in a tournament, and you will want a map the first time you are there. I enjoy going to Moon Lake.

There is also a new 9 hole in Westmoreland. http://www.discgolfscene.com/courses/De ... ark/Hole_1
Some of the holes are kind of sketchy (through playground etc.). Probably not one you would make a special trip for but Rick & I had fun playing it.

Is the new Ft. Riley course a fun play?

I still want to get something going the day before LAO...Don't know if that would be both 9 hole town courses....or maybe something out there.

Just saying

I have fun out there. You might want to bring a couple of discs you don’t mind getting wet though :)

Maybe there will be two 18 hole town courses by the LAO?

Realistically, I think you will see 18 fairways at one of the parks in the spring. The other one might take a while.

If any body wants to play the Moon Lake course with a group of locals this winter, you could plan a visit during one of their (free) league events.

Basically speaking, between Ft. Riley and Manhattan there is a league round every Sunday afternoon through the winter months.

1st & 3rd Sunday of every month = league Warner Park (Singles league for points & bag tags. Visitors & new members always welcome)

2nd & 4th Sunday of every month = league at Moon Lake (Singles league, casual play)

Both leagues tee time is at 1:30pm sharp.
Come to Manhattan. Play our courses.
