As you may or may not know, the Disc Fanatics of Kansas (Manhattan based disc golf club) is working on a Fairmont Park Disc Golf Course expansion & remodel project.

We are getting very close to raising our necessary funds, plus Riley County Parks is committed to paying for additional disc golf amenities.

I am pleased to announce that we have concluded our fundraising campaign.

We have now raised our agreed upon amount, and then some, totalling $4,750! That's $250 above our goal!
Riley County Parks will be paying for a large amount of improvements too, resulting in a much improved course.

Stay tuned for more information, such as construction details & pics., scheduled disc golf club work days, and much more.

Thanks to the continued hard work and dedication of the Manhattan area club, Disc Fanatics of Kansas, THE INNOVA DISC GOLF EQUIPMENT WAS ORDERED TODAY for the Fairmont Course Expansion project.

The Innova equipment order consisted of the following:
10 Innova Discatcher Pro Permanent baskets, complete with 10 ground sleeves.
16 additional ground sleeves for alternate pin placements throughout the entire course.
(That means there will be 34 playable pin placements, plus one practice basket near the new main sign).

Also taking place today, Riley County Parks staff worked on the following:
Some additional spraying of poison ivy in the expansion area, with a special focus on fairways #2 & #6.
Cutting of the standing trees we marked (months ago) on #2 & #6. Many of these were dead & dangerous "leaners".
Cutting of the downed trees, aka logs, laying in fairways #2 & #6. Many of these will be used to define fairway boundaries & trail edges.

The Innova equipment will be here before we know it. Stay tuned for more details about pending club workdays to get the new course equipment installed. At this point, it is looking like those workdays will be on some of the following days: July 27th & 28th, and/or Aug. 3rd & 4th.

Yes, there will be other equipment installed as part of this project. However, the focus of this News is on what transpired today.

All of the important (expensive) course remodel and expansion improvements are now complete.

This course is now equipped with the following;
1 Large course main sign, most importantly with a course map.
18 Tee sign posts with maps & other info.
18 New concrete tee pads, measuring 5'x15'.
19 Innova Discatcher baskets (18 fairways + 1 at practice area)
(With 34 pin placements to keep the course interesting).
