Updated the schedule. I was told there were people at Oak waiting to play league on Thursday. I will circle Derby in red on the league schedule, which are posted on the course bulletins. I'll also try to remember to announce it at league the week before.

Right now, Derby is schedule for the last league of the month.

I will try to update this schedule soon. I think we'll need to start teeing off at 5:50 starting 9/23 and make it 5 minites earlier each week until we switch back to regular time in November.

Schedule has been updated.

NOTE: We will no longer be teeing off at 6:00pm or later. We'll need to tee by 5:50 next week, which means people need to have their $5 paid no later than 5:35. And we will be teeing 5 min. earlier each week. And we'll need to tee 10 min. earlier yet for Derby on 9/30. We'll be switching to weekends in November.

Please don't show up late and expect to play. This makes it very difficult to get things started. I try to do all 3-somes and put the 4-somes where it makes the most sense. This is impossible when people show up late and we have to change cards over and over again. Showing up late garauntees that everyone who shows up on time will finish IN THE DARK.

The reason we don't switch to weekends sooner are the KDGA tournaments. Many people attend these and getting people to run league could easily be an issue. As it is, the 2nd and 3rd weekends in November might be a problem in getting someone to run league. Someone will have to volunteer to help with this (ahead of time).

After league switches to weekend, I think we should have some club days out at Colwich & Newton. Up for ideas on what days. Including Derby, maybe 2 non-HH/Oak club days per month? Could be same weekend.

Next week is the last week for weekday league. We need to be started no later than 5:25. It is full dark at 7:00pm now.

Club will resume weekends starting Nov 2nd.
Sundays at Oak at 1:00pm
Saturdays at Herman Hill at 10:00am.
Doubles & Singles will alternate.

Thinking we could do a California format for Tuesday. Good practice for the Round Up.

Anyone think we should do something different for Nov 2nd, day after Round Up? Right now it is scheduled for Oak Park.

I'm thinking we should have 2 club days per month that aren't in Wichita. Could rotate between Derby, Newton, & Colwich.

I'm thinking last weekend of the month could be for non-Wichita locations. We could switch Saturday Nov. 29th from HH to Newton. Sunday the 30th is for Derby. In December, we could do Colwich?

What would be best for the Newton players? I think they are doing a free league in Newton on Sundays at 2pm. Doing our leauge at 1 or 1:30 might interfere with that. So maybe Saturday would be best. Might push it back to 10:30 or 11:00?

Here is the updated league schedule. Last day of the month or thereabouts we usually play somewhere different. Tomorrow 11/30/08, is Derby. We have Newton & Colwich thrown in there too.

Still have to establish contact with Oaklawn, but plan is to have Ice Bowl there again this year. Hopefully move the course more into the woods this year. I'll post back when I have more info.

I'm going to cancel ACDGC league for Saturday, January 31st. The Big Boy Toy Show is at Century 2 that day. This event could potentially be huge for disc golf in Wichita. 4,000 to 6,000 or more people will be seing disc golf center stage. Ron & Bob will have TV interviews. I think the same radio stations that are puting on the event are going to be at our Ice Bowl, helping to promote it.

It's not long to prepare, but we really need to try do everything we can to make this successful. If your Saturday isn't booked, come down to the event and help hand out our club info, help with the putting contest, or just help represent disc golf by talking to people, introducing them to the game. Ron ran some ideas by me and it sounds like if we got some restuarant sponsors to run a coupon promotion and/or buy the volunteers lunch, we could get their name on the scorecard for the competition (need help getting these printed as well). So if you want to help with sponsors, that would be great. Please contact Ron, Peter, Bob, or Mike. Anything else you could do, like bringing a basket (Ron needs 4 total) or a disc golf related banner would be great as well. Any giveaways or useful printed info would be helpful. If anyone has a projector screen that could play DVD's, that would be a tremendous help. Basically, if you have ideas or can volunteer, everyone could use the help. This is a big opportunity for promoting disc golf in this region.

We could try to do Colwich on Sunday, Feb. 1st. I would not be in favor unless there was a lot of interest. In other words, attendance wouldn't be lower than if it were at Oak.

There are some plans for some workdays out at Colwich. When we can organize this, we should try to do a weekend of league and workdays out there.

Right now, the trees need raised on a great many fairways. There is a bridge that needs moved. And there is a ton of work to be done clearing fairways for long placements that aren't in the ground yet. A spring project might be getting short placments in the ground so the course is playable during the summer. Also in the spring, herbacide needs to be sprayed along the edges of the creek where vegetation is out of control and chokes out the fairways.

I may cancel league for next Saturday as well. Everyone may be at the Food Drive in Winfield. I want to promote the upcoming Ice Bowl though, and it looks like today at Oak may be the last day for it. Please let everybody on the course know about the upcoming Ice Bowl

Plans right now are to go to the Winfield Food Drive. If anyone wants to run league, give me a yell. Otherwise, I'll see you all this Sunday.
