Ace Race, October 6th
I'm wanting to do the Ace Race on the 6th and the Club Championships / Membership drive on the 7th. Both around 1pm.
We've done a different location for the ace race every year so far. Oak Park, Valley Center, Mulvane, Derby, Herman Hill, Haysville. The only courses in the Wichita vicinity that we haven't done yet are the Tick Ranch and Clearwater. The attendance might be better if we did it at a local course again. Derby was a pretty good ace race track.
Thinking out loud, looking to see if anyone has any ideas for this year.

Re: Ace Race, October 6th
or we could do a totaly raw and temp course this year . there are some sweet parks in the area that dont get used much. we only need 9 baskets and can just toss them twice. .
other wise i say keep it close to home and we will get more players.

That's not a bad idea, but it would take some coordination to get that many baskets. And we'd have to find a somewhat large area where there is no chance someone would get hit with a disc.

Actually they already scheduled one for September 1st at Oak Park. You can do another tourney if you can.

Who is running it?
Re: Ace Race, October 6th
Some guys that have a blog called disc chasers and they also found about 3 or 4 or 5 disc in the pond at hole # 6 long tee.

People of the Pond, eh? I guess we should support their Ace Race and get them out of the disc fishing business.

Re: Ace Race, October 6th
I've seen nothing about an ace race on Sep. 1st at Oak. I've been down there 3 times this week. No flyers hung or anything of that sort. Were they planning on telling anyone? Is there a link to this blog?

I can fill in a few details. The Ace Race at Oak got rescheduled to Sept. 29. One of the guys in our group decided to provide leadership to hosting an Ace Race.
Entry Fee - $25 which includes this year's Player's Pack
Bottled water will be available to purchase
Opportunity to order Discraft discs for a discounted price
Mulligans will be available to purchase
$2 each or $10 for 6: purchase before round begins, can only use 1 per hole
contact Tyler Deck to reserve your spot!

Mulligans? Really? Completely against the rules and point of an Ace Race....Doug wrote:I can fill in a few details. The Ace Race at Oak got rescheduled to Sept. 29. One of the guys in our group decided to provide leadership to hosting an Ace Race.

Re: Ace Race, October 6th
I was thinking Colwich would be a great spot for an Ace Race. But the distance away from town might lower attendance some. And if there is an ace race at Oak Park the week before, we'll probably lose some more. I've got enough going on right now, especially with the membership drive the same weekend.... I'm thinking of passing the torch on the ace race. Does anyone want to run one and give the profits to the ACDGC? We could order the packs if we can get a pretty close guess on the number we need. Last year in Haysville, we had a decent showing and sold 28 packs.

ace race with mullys.lol ok that is funny stuff right there.
Mike i think if we have it as far away as colwhich we would losse alot of players that dont drive or car pool. I really hope we find a way to keep it closer to wichita. the ace races always seem to draw more players when its closer to home.

29th is a bad day to run an Ace Race.
I would think that most golfers will be in Newton playing 1880.

Even worse since ACDGC is doing this one week later on Oct 6th. I think whoever it is doesn't know about the KDGA.smitty wrote:29th is a bad day to run an Ace Race.

Re: Ace Race, October 6th
ACDGC Will not be doing an Ace Race this year, Discraft will not let us do one withing 30 miles of another ace race, and The guys running one @ Oak on the 29th inadvertently Killed our chances on Doing one. I suggest people go and show support to either Salinas Crew, or Wellington's Crew if Wellington Gets one scheduled.
