Re: 2009 Oz Tour Points Update
Mike I'm a member of the kdga. I'll need points for topeka and herrington
I signed up last wednesday or so online, which is probably why I wasn't on the list of signups for the weekend. My status hasn't been changed yet on the forums

Re: 2009 Oz Tour Points Update
Not sure who takes the complaints on this, but I don't think the points race is very fair for us girls. For Robyn its OK cuz she rocks, she's a pro & actually beats plenty of people. It was probably worth it for her to go to a triple point event- she got some points.
I go to a triple point event & get 12 points!? That's BS! I did beat people, but hardly any of them were KDGA members. We were one of the few groups that camped all weekend- Where's the triple bonus points for that?
Could we maybe work out something different for the girls points? Its not like there's very many of us, so why not. There's gotta be some way to make it more fair, or maybe I shouldn't really care.
Maybe if we did give some better incentive for the ladies, we could get more signed up for the KDGA.

There are several triple point events on the schedule this year. This is something that we wanted to try. It gives the people who don't get to play many events a chance to win. As always, the people who play the most events will end up with the most points in the end.
Don't know what to tell you about the 12 points? Play better?
In the end the same girls will all be qualified for the finals. The top 1/3 of the division.
If the triple points don't work out the way we like it, we will readjust and try again next year.

Re: 2009 Oz Tour Points Update
Hard to make it more fair than it is. TD's don't get points, that doesn't seem fair either. It's a consistent system though.
I think the triple points is a good idea, because people who attend 2 day events should get something better than a 1 day event.
The only thing I can think of that would possibly help would be to give points for all players beat, not just KDGA members. That would be a big headache. It might be possible as long as all scores get reported at all events. But, that might end up seeming unfair in different ways.
I can say this. While the points race gets many to sign up for KDGA, it probably keeps some from it. They know they won't play many. We are trying to keep things fair for these people by offering big points events and other ways to qualify. You would thing the disc, shirt, tag, & meals for cheap $25 entry would be enough in itself.

Re: 2009 Oz Tour Points Update
I just want to thank Miranda for showing up last weekend. After my performance, I'm grateful to get the 15 points that I did.
In all seriousness though, I think our points system is much more fair than what the PDGA uses as I get to compete against the entire field for points, but only have to worry about my KDGA division as far as qualifying for finals. In PDGA points, you get hurt for playing in a small division, or playing up in a tougher one, or not finishing.
If there was one adjustment that I would make, it would be to give the DFL person a bit more than the standard 1,2 or 3 points (say 5, 10 or 15 depending on what level the tournament is), and then apply the +1, +2, +3 per person beat/tied from there. In NASCAR for instance, I think the last place driver still gets around 20% of the points that the winner does. This might keep points races more competitive, and reward folks more for showing up.
And I like the 3x points idea for two dayers too. My only concern is that down the stretch, single point events like ours in Hutch are going to suffer as far as attendance because people won't consider it worth the effort, particularly with 3x events on both the previous and following weekends.

Thanks, Mike & Smitty for your suggestions. I wasn't complaining about the triple points, just points in general for us girls. I won't let it bother me.
