New pin placements!

Post by _dm4 »

I am going to meet with Rob (City Manager)and someone else soon about some new pin placements. Here are the holes I have gotten input for already; 4 longer to the left with ob road right behind, 5 long and near ob fence, 12 longer through the trees, 15 longer by road, 18 higher on hill). If you have any other requests, let me know. They are really quite flexible (not really, but if I keep saying that...). Also we are going to start work on the new fairway on 13 (between the birm and the creek)! We are just going to take out the fallen trees and small stick like living trees that are in the "fairway". (Smitty gave me this idea last year). Should have the new pins in soon!

If you are going to do it, you should do all of them. Here is my short list. Maybe people who have played Norton can chime in and help Don out. This is already a good course that could be even better.

1- Short between the cotonwoods, make it a putter ace run.
2- I don't know what to do.
3- Get that sucker away from the gazebo (You are screwed on that)! Can you make it longer?
4- Make that sucker longer.
5- Make that puppy longer and move it to the right some place (is that possible?).
6- Put it on the dike.
7- Very limited as to what you can do. You could put in on the dike also. Then if someone took a run at it they may go deep. An alt. tee may be better on this hole. Maybe to the other side of the tree to the left of the tee.
8- This is another hole that may need an alt tee. Someplace off to the left would be sweet. If you put a different pin in, it either needs to be way shorter, or way longer. Make it so that the old pin would be the perfect landing zone.
9- Put that puppy on the dike also, or move it well to the right or even a little longer.
10- You would probably have to make it shorter?
11- A longer alt. tee would be COOL! As for the Pin, you are pretty limited.
12- Has got to be longer. They mow the perfect fairway!
13- Alt. tee down to the left of the dike. Clear out a tunnel! That would be sweet.
14- Can you say dike to dike?
15- Longer and to the left under the pine tree. That would be a sick hole.
16- Longer!!!!! Still keep it close to the fence.
17- Longer tee is the only thing that could happen I think? What else could you do Don?
18- Needs to be longer and farther up the hill!!!!

That is what I think. Some of the rest of you chime in and tell Don what you think.

Those are about what we did when we played alt's that one year. We can't put baskets on the dike, so we could save those holes and just "do" them for the tourneys. Sounds good so far, keep them comin! Oh, we could make 17 move right and long, but not much point in that????

Can you put them next to the dike? Hole 14 would be good at the base of the dike. You could still play when the had a rodeo.

You may have to have some alt. tee on some hole. You are pretty limited in spots as to what you can do.

That rodeo thing kinda scares me! They ride around to warm up right there by the fairway, on the dike, and all around. I would hate for some kids horse to get spooked by a disc! I tell people to just skip that hole if anyone is there, outside the arena. They would probably end up yanking the course if that did happen! I would play anyway, but it would suck without baskets. I sure would get a low score though! :D

Met with three city guys yesterday. They asked why I did not have them working on this in the winter, when they had nothing to do. I had no excuses, but told them we did not need them before the first part of Aug. They thought for sure they could have them in by then!

We also talked about the new fairway on 13, but they really did not want to cut down any trees larger than about 3" in diameter. That might be a really tight fairway! I asked them to remove all the dead stuff that was on the ground and they said that would work.
