I have a buddy comin over from MO that I'd like to take to some courses in the area. He took me to all of the Des Moines courses when I lived in MO, so I'd like to show him a couple of the best that there is to offer in KS. What are the two best courses within easy driving distance of Salina? If anybody would like to give some suggestions I'd appreciate it. Oh, I've already played Hays, Beloit, and here in town (we'll probably try to hit the league here on Sunday).

Not an easy drive, bout 1.5 hrs but Emporia has some great golf! 2 courses in one park..we play league at 5:30 today jones Park. come on down.

Thanks, but he doesn't get here til tomorrow. I'm definitely planning on coming to the tourney in Nov. though. I've heard good things about the Emporia courses. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Maybe the Wichita courses?

Both Herman Hill and Oak Park in Wichita are good courses, both challenging. #18 @ Oak Park is on of my favorite holes. You play over a man-made "pond", but it is only a couple of feet deep. If you throw to the left, you putt from above the pin. There is also a disc golf course at a church outside of town. Never played it but I have heard you get a testimony at the turn.

Both Wichita courses are well worth playing.

Oak plays tighter and has some narrow fairways with OB. Dual tees. Focus on accuracy.

Herman Hill has dual tees and dual pins. They are on short right now and will move half long in another 1-2 weeks. Nice Water center and variety of golf shots.

GO TO EMPORIA.

Wichita is ok, Manhatten is ok, Salina is ok, Hays is ok, EMPORIA IS WHERE ITS AT (if you cant make it to KC)

How is the signage at the Wichita courses mentioned? We're gonna be a little crunched for time and I'd hate to have to search for every basket on the course.

I'm definitely stoked to play Emporia, it just isn't going to be until the Nov. tourney. My buddy is driving 4 hours to get here and I doubt if he'll want to take another long ride the very next day.

What about some of the small town courses around? Are there any worth going out of the way for?

Herman would be pretty EZ to find your way around. They have good signs, except for the hole that you cross the road and make the small loop (#6 ?) Oak is Easy to follow also. They don't have signs, but it has a simple flow.

If you want something closer.

McPherson is 30 minutes and easy to follow, it is a shorter pitch and putt course.

Hutch would be 45 minutes, they have good signs, and it is simple to follow.

Abeline is only 30 minutes, it doesn't have signs, and could be tough to follow.

You have played Beloit and know it pretty well.

Concordia?

Newton is also a fun course, I don't know what it looks like this time of year.

Brother-in-law Kevin lives in Concordia and we've played it plenty (definitely pitch and putt). What sort of length does Hutch have? I was thinking about going to disc unlimited and buying a basket anyway so I might have to check that course out. I'm still leaning towards getting the lightening basket. Thanks for everyone's input.

I don't know that Dennis has a course. He does have a connection for the course in J.C.

Herman Hill has signs for the long tees on every hole. Oak has diagrams painted on the tees, but they are getting pretty faded.

Hey Hopper, thanks for the invite. I think I'm going to take him to Hays and show him my old college stomping grounds. Man, I wish I'd have played disc golf when I went there. Thanks again everyone for the idea's!
