Fate: Me and the Orc

So I've been throwing discs kinda serious (every other day or two) for a couple weeks now with some buddies from work. I haven't made any KDGA events yet, which is just as well.. figure I ought to be able to throw decent first.

Week or so ago, I ordered some discs from discgolfstore.com to upgrade the old cheap discs I had. I got a 'lite Z putter, discraft comet, innova orc and a crush Z tie-dye... pretty much randomly.

I loved the way the Crush-Z felt. Wow. And it looked kick ASS! Plus I'd heard (after I bought it) that people that are good really crush with a Z or an X. So I went out and threw all the discs a couple times. Of the drivers I had, the Orc flew great for me. But I really WANTED to throw the Z good, to prove I could. Plus I liked it.

It's 1.8 Overstable and that's way overstable for me, apparently. But I felt like a noob not being able to throw the freaking thing.

So I tried over and over.

Then today, we play Herman Hill (Wichita). Hole 6 is LOONG and by the river. Me and 2 buddies throw. 3 drivers in the river in the space of 3 minutes. I was the first retard to throw in the river, but I dunno WHAT they were thinking...

I walked back to the tee, pissed off, and my Orc was in there with that "told ya so" kinda look on his face.

"bastard", I thought. I picked it up and thew the rest of the course with it. I guess I'm still a big time newbie, cause I threw WAY better with the Orc.

Needless to say, I ordered up a couple more Orcs. I've learned my lesson.

I agree, some of the newer Crushes are OVERSTABLE!!!

I have 2 Reds who think that they are Preds. I have 1 older red that has been around the block for a while that is my go to bomber!

Here is what I have noticed on the Crush. If the plastic is "Clear" any color, they are less stable. If it is Opaque they are more stable.

On the X crushes. Orange=Flippy Yellow=Stable

If you don't have the arm for the Crush, you should try the Flash.

cool

I don't have a white one so I don't know? I have watched Eric and Chad both throw them and they seem pretty stable.

The Z Crush is a bomber forehand disc if you can learn to throw it and it'll keep you out of the river on hole 6 at Herman if you're right handed. The Crush is a little too stable for my weak ass noodle armed backhand but it is my $ FH disc and I find myself throwing it on more and more holes lately. I can't count how many discs I chucked in the drink on #6 until I finally figured it out and now I can even manage a par on that long sucker once in a while, which even a few months ago I never would have thought possible for me.

Try it in X plastic or a light weight Z! I have both in the bag if you want to give them a rip, let me know.
