Mission Trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica

Post by Master Dyck »

I have been invited to join 49 other people from my church to go down to Jamaica to hand deliver laptop computers to students in Montego Bay. They've tried to send the computers but they get stolen in customs. They are asking individuals to travel and hand deliver these laptops to the children there personally.

The trip is over the Memorial Day weekend and is from Wednesday to Monday. The cost is $2000 for travel, lodging, food and personal expenses and $200-300 for a refurbished laptop computer. I am in the process of raising the money for this trip.

I would like to ask you, as my disc golf family, to help me in my mission to help these children. You can help in several ways. One is to bid on my items for sale on eBay. (my username is "dyce_man"). I will be putting many many items on eBay in the next several weeks. A lot of them will be discs.

Another way to support me would be monitarily. Any amount of money would be very appreciated and you can send it to Rodney Dyck, 14700 NW 72nd, Moundridge, KS 67107.

One other way is if any of you have items that you would like to donate for me to sell on eBay just email me the photo and description and I will list it. If the item sells, you would be responsible to send the item and I will gladly reimburse you for the shipping costs.

If any of you have any other great ideas for me on how to raise money for this mission please let me know. Thank you all for your help and support.

Please be sure to check my eBay everyday. I'm putting another 40+ items on today including 10 discs. And be sure to tell your friends to check too. Again, my username is dyce_man.

Could you post a link for the lazy people to your items for sale.

I'm still trying to put 20-40 items on eBay every day. Usually I get 10-12 discs on every day.

Be sure to check on my other items too. I've raised over $900 in the last 5 days, so it is a huge success to this point. I'm almost half way to my goal already.

Thanks to all of you who have placed bids. I'm glad that I could have something that you need and want.

Just an update on my fundraising adventure.

First of all, for those of you that are bidding and winning items. A BIG THANK YOU!!!

I have put 544 items up for sale and have sold 229 items so far.

I have 160 items up for sale right now so please keep looking periodically in case you might just find that treasure that you've been looking for.

If any of you have tried this before, it is a full time job. Listing items, selling items, sending invoices, packing up items and sending them out and then leaving feedback. Not to mention answering the many many questions that people have. A very time-consuming business. But it's been a blast.

Thanks again for all your support.
