what TOUGH conditions :( I got up to Emporia Sat. afternoon late and the course looked great.Lots of OB and some really well thought out shots.Sunday was a drag .This has to have been one of the most punishing tournaments as far as conditions go.-RAINDELAY- before starting play!It was decided that we would play Safari 27 hole course to shorten time .Started ...After the third hole everything was soaked.-RAINDELAY- Restocked on towels. Took the opportunity to get a rainsuit at Wallmart.Got the last one in stock  and grabbed a bite to eat .Got back for the restart.Played through seriously bad and somewhat dangerous conditions.-RAINDELAY-Called for lightning inside a mile !walked in and immediately restarted as soon as we could walk back out !Finished in more on and off rain turning clearer. It looked pretty good just about the time we finished  Thanks for Dynamic Discs and Jeremy`s hard work as well as all of the staff pulling and dropping off baskets! I think how this tournament impressed me most was in the dedication of the golfers.Hats off to all those players that struggled through the crappy conditions :!: Now we can all say we were there! But,I don`t think I would do it again in retrospect.I`m getting too old for this crap and I`m smart enough to know how much I`ll pay tommorow at work! :( Watch the radar it`s not over yet ~

The weather did suck!

E-mac showed why he is a super pro. He was dropping bombs and nailing some solid putts, 2 up today was just sick.

I would like to have a shot at that course in normal conditions. Some of the holes would be a true test of your golf skill.

Wow, didn't know it was that bad!

You guys are HARDCORE!

I SURVIVED THE DD SAFARI!!! Hmmm....might have to get some shirts with this to remember the tournament, even though I know it won't ever be forgotten from anyone who decided to stick around and play. The weather was just crazy. I wish we could have played on Saturday and had 100+ people show up! What a difference one day can make in the weather!

I really want to thank everyone who came out and stuck the event out! It really meant a lot to have everyone there with, for the most part, no complaints! Maybe some dead weekend we can put together a non-sanctioned event using the course and have everyone enjoy it.

A SHOUT OUT to all the players who traveled from so far away. The St. Joseph crew and Arkansas crew come to mind right away! It was really nice to have so much support from all over!

A big thanks to everyone who helped with preparing the course in one way or another. Putting together a temp course like this really requires a lot of work. I really wish everyone could have enjoyed the course to its full potential. Thanks to Shan Mann and Smitty for bringing the extra baskets needed for the course!

I really wish we could have had good weather and the anticipated 100+ players that I had planned for the event. Payout would have been huge in all divisions!

Added Cash:
Pro Men: $250
Am Divisions: $400 spread through the divisions one way or another. Thanks to all the fund raiser discs purchased. For such a small field, player pack, and PDGA & KDGA fees in consideration, I think the payout was pretty respectable.

Congrats too EMac and all the division winners and top place finishers! I heard something about Gabe increasing his caddy fees

Any suggestions or tips on how to run a better event would be greatly appreciated...Besides controlling the weather. Let us know what you thought about everything; most memorable moments and favorite holes. Thanks again to all who came out!

Yesterday marked the first time I have ever walked into a pond... with my clothes on.

Didn't we all decide that the rain was Clay's fault?

It was downright brutal, but I still managed to have fun

I'm pretty sure that's the conclusion we came to..

The weather was definitely brutal, but I had a great time. Despite the conditions, my card was alot of fun and we did our best to stay in high spirits through the rain and mud...

Great job Rusco, I'm sure it was a major headache dealing with the weather and other normal stresses of running a tournament!

Great job Rusco, it's too bad the weather turned out like it did, i thought you guys put a lot of work to the course to make some really cool holes, and i wish i could have played them in dry conditions.
i guess i am just a kitty, but i am done trying to play golf in the rain.
FWG all the way.

Thanks for all the positive comments about the event. Lets not forget about all the work McCabe did to the course as well with the mower! I think we lost half our rights to the course after mowing out the island greens and making fairways and walking paths  I don't have any intentions to play in the rain again anytime soon. Oh, and the weather is perfect here again today.

Mother nature wouldn't have it any other way.

I would like to thank all the people who showed up for the Double D! It shows true class not to back out of a tournament because of a little rain and wind!!

Thanks to Rusco for running a great event with a great payout! Course was Awesome! We will have to play it when the weather is a little better.

Emporia/Double D Sweep!! :D
