Gotta give it up to the Winfield crew for hosting a fun event. It was a great day to be outside and having fun with everyone who showed up. As always, it was awesome to play with Burton, Shan, 2k, Hickman, Converse and of course Smitty who did what he usually does(killed it). I learn something new every time I get lucky enough to get on cards with these dudes. Great time...hope to see everyone in Lawrence next saturday and/or the mulvane ace race! Also... Bo(lil' bro) Carrasco and Russ Horning played good and grabbed the W's in advanced and AMII.
Glad you had a good time Crispin.
I have to thank my left and right hand men.
Chris Tyler, thanks for all the help laying out, marking (and playing me for bag tags at 11:30 last night), and all the little things you do to help make the WVDGA better.
Shan, big thanks for being there to help me with registration this morning. It is so much more easy when you can just file people down the line and get it all taken care of. Shan also ran a 9 hole double event after the rounds.
Also big thanks to Bullfrog for helping with the cards and bringing me lunch.Banger thanks for running the ace fund throw off. It is great to have people step up and helps make the event top notch.
Last but not least HUGE thanks to the 26 people who made the trip to Winfield to play the event. I hope that all of you had a good time!
We took the Hyzer fest that Cherry Street is and turned it into a tough/thinking players course. There were many holes that the best shot was to throw safe off the tee then gun for the pin. There were very few holes that smashing a 500 foot drive gave you an advantage.

Birdie Poker:
This was a good addition to a small event. I will do this at all events that willl have 30 players or less. I think that it was pretty fun and a good $5 investment. The only thing that let me down was that a couple of people always think that they are above the rules and can do anything they want. Granted they were playing their own game by taking a card at each spot, but they were taking cards that people had earned. If they wanted a card at each hole they should have brought their own cards and done that. This is something that could easily be added to a league or small event.
Round 1
Shan ---2 Aces with only 2 cards $48
Round 2
Bullfrog---Ace with a 10 kicker $48

Interesting facts:
Hot Rounds:
Smitty First round -11 Second round -4
Jason Adkins shot 3 better on the second round! Most people shot 5 or more strokes worse!
Bo took 3 birdies on the island hole! That is Bad Arse! The long island hole was tough even from the short pad.
I wish I could give you some more info on course and stats. Several cards have scores on the wrong holes. That is what is going to happen when you play alt. tees on a 9 hole course. People have circles on holes that there is no possible way to go O.B.
I do think that we had a few holes that played much harder then par 3.
Tees signs to Red all par 3 or less.
Stones to Red all par 3 or less.
Stones to Red Holes 12 and 13 could easily be called par 4.
Stones to Silver several Par 4's 10, 12, 13, 18 (May have been the signature hole on the course. Should have been a pretty simple 3, could be a killer 2, I watched the it cost Brendan 2nd place.)
I am really pleased with the way the course played out and look forward to adding a few holes next year when we have 50 people play.
