we wont be playing 7E to 4E blue in the tourney. would create some major course traffic issues. if we dont have a recorded length for 18 to 1 i guess just estimate it. i used the wheel from work but that still wouldn't be too accurate. my guess is 550'; 450 to clear the water and another 100 to the pin.Hammer wrote:Rusco, Nate, Jake....
Can anyone get me the distances for the following:
West Course:
18 Tee to 1 Red
East Course:
7 Tee to 4 Blue
I've sent out a lot of maps. Can't wait to see 5 on every tee pad....Mind if we play through?

Who is gonna get props for painting all the circles? Is Wiggins still around for that sort of thing?

Can anyone tell me the street address of the park where this event will be played so I can mapquest it?
Re: 7th Annual Glass Blown Open A-Tier April 18-19
Its that area between I-35 and Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Put the intersection of "Jones Drive & Hilltop Drive" into Mapquest and that should put you into the southerly area of the park.cooldaddyslickbreeze wrote:Can anyone tell me the street address of the park where this event will be played so I can mapquest it?
Or maybe this will be easier. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Empor ... :f:EN:M:/e

The West entrance to Jones Park is:
2006 Prairie Street, Emporia, KS, 66801
It's kind of a hidden entrance, but trust me you'll find it.

Something in my e-mail must be blocking those maps from coming through. Are they going to be printed out and available at the course?
Will the pins be in their tourney placements by Friday? I might head in that afternoon to get some practice.

The course is looking amazing right now! And there is more OB sting this year than ever before! I think everyone will really enjoy the extra OB lines.
McCabe and Leo DaPrato are pretty much taking Wiggins' place for knocking out the circles and all the OB on the course. I can't thank these guys enough for doing this and everyone else who has helped out with getting the courses ready. If I had to do it myself we might not be starting the tournament until Saturday afternoon:)
Things are looking good and I don't think that anyone will be disappointed with this years event! Look on the PDGA homepage tomorrow for a featured article about the event. We will be doing live scoring at this one which will be a first!

Oh, last year we talked about doing some betting or fantasy bracket. Anyone have ideas on how we can do this or have a system ready to use? I think this would be really awesome not only for the players at the event, but for players who aren't able to make it but still want to be involved in some form.

An easy way to do it would be to have participants fill out their top ten picks for the Open division, in order.
For scoring, take each player they picked and subtract the difference with the players actual finishing place. Lowest points wins.
An alternate way of doing it would be to ask the participant to list the top 10 Open picks, but this time order doesn't matter. Then they score zero for each player that finishes top 10, and score the difference between 10 and the actual finishing place for those that don't finish in the top 10.
I like the first better, but neither is difficult.
The problem is trying to combine an online contest and one for those at the event. If there is an entry, it'll be tough to get it from people not at the event. So you could make it worth an entry for those attending (winner takes all) and just for fun for those online?

In POOL we do a thing called Calcutta. You assign $ amounts to players and the winner(s) get to split the money. So Eric 1031 would be worth $10 (your saying he is going to win by betting) and Myself 935 would be worth a quarter. Now if you bet on me for a quarter and I win. You win the pot. or split it if someone else were to do so. It's not excatly what your lookin for but it could be fun. I can get the info if your interested.
Re: 7th Annual Glass Blown Open A-Tier April 18-19
we could do it for each division starting with the lowest rating and adding a dollar to each 10 rating points after that. each plaer pays their worth.
intermediate: lowest is 812 so start at 800 and add a dollar each 10 points rounding up at 5.
Scott Carpenter 812 $1
Jason Skeen 845 $5
Jeremy Kindy 851 $5
Neil Killian 863 $6
Chris Tyler 866 $7
Shane Diersen 868 $7
Bangrrr Bob 875 $8
Brett Burgess 875 $8
Scott Miller 879 $8
Brian Nomura 887 $9
Rusty Briar 893 $10
Adam Morrison 893 $10
Brandon Hopkins 896 $10
Jamaal Dorsey 900 $10
Jason Adkins 904 $10
Lars Nordgren 915 $12
Joseph Collins 918 $12
Ryan Kvam 919 $12
Paul Morrision 920 $12
JB Bauersfield 926 $13
my math could be off but that's around $175 just from rated players. non rated and non pdga $5. i count 9 = 45 +175 = 220. this would up the ante for a plastic winning division. i don't know if it should be broken down or if it all should go to 1st.

Nobody better bet their dollar on me.
This would be too complex to handle IMO, but an idea I had would be similar to those 10x10 grid pools you make for Super Bowl Sunday where you have entrants buy a square and once they're filled in, you assign numbers for each column and row based on the last digit of each team's score.
What we'd do differently is instead of assigning numbers, we'd use player names. The names across the top of the board refer to 1st place, and the ones on the side refer to other places. We would put the names in the exact same order on both sides. there would be a diagonal line of 'dead' squares that nobody could pick (so you didn't get stuck with the same name on both sides). Then you'd pay out the winners accordingly like such....
1. Correct winner - correct runner up
2. Correct winner - correct third place
3. Correct winner - correct fourth place
4. Correct winner - other top ten finisher
5. Correct top two people, but in the wrong order
Of course with 46 open players, we'd have to fill in over 2000 squares.
Getting pumped, and can't wait to see everyone on Saturday. Let's hope and pray mother nature is cooperative.
