2009 Kansas City WIDE OPEN May 30-31

Post by dickparker »

This years KCWO will be a B-Tier. We are going to play 4 rounds. Saturday will be Kansas courses Wyandotte and Shawnee Mission Park. Sunday will be Cliff Drive and Water Works. The entry fee is affordable this year and worth playing in order to see the course setups for WORLDS. I am limiting the field to 180 . Online registration will be up hopefully this weekend or early next week. I will keep everyone posted on the URL as I learn of it. I will also have info up soon for mailing in your registration. Please check http://www.kcfdc.org for all updated info! Or you can email me at dick.parker@hotmail.com

Woo! $35 for a 2 day B-tier? People are usually complaining about too high entry fees. I hope I can make this one, that's cheap!!

They played Shawnee Mission and then Wyco day one then Waterworks and Cliff Drive day two in that order
A great shot is when you try it, a good shot is when you don't have the guts to pull it off.

I thought the weather this weekend was perfect, however the courses weren't mowed and the last time it was mowed it could have been baled. I think if you are going to have a B tier tourney you should coordinate with the parks so that they are mowed. I hope this doesn't happen for the Am Worlds in July, as that would be real embarassing for the city of KC.

Great shooting Emac & Babbit. Looks like a Nebraskan, James Fleege, strung some birdies the final round in Advanced.

How was Cliff Drive playing? SSA around 57, played tougher than WYCO.

several new pins and a few moved tee pads. 3's tee was moved down to the right and deeper. much harder. 7 has a new pin about 50 feet deeper in the trees. 9's tee was about 20 feet back but actually a bit easier line. 11 they moved the tee all the way up the hill and put in a new pin around the corner to make it a par 4. 13 was long. 16 short. 17 has a new pin that is on that island where you enter the park. very tough 3. the course certainly needs some work before it is ready for worlds.

the only course that wasn't mowed before the event was Water works.....not sure what you mean by they weren't mowed.

As for cliff, tee pads is about all we will be doing, what do you feel needs to be done to make ti ready for the worlds?

BTW we will not be using the island on #17, rather another long placement on the peninsula that will be about 30' from both ends of the road.

I'd love to know what else needs to be done so that we crack on it if it makes sense.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Jack
