How many days until the Beloit tourney?

What a blast!

You Beloit boys are the bomb.

One of the highlights of the enitre thing. Having 3 Moshers qualify for the next round in the ring of fire, and Adam wasn't one of them.

The Friz in July. This was a great tourney. I had a blast. I remembered why I missed it so much. Many old friends were reunited. For instance, Mace and the concrete. :) :) :)

The Captains Quarters. Man I LOVE THIS BAR!

It was hot but at least it was not the usual 115 degrees. See you next year. Smitty - get that trophy fixed.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

I had a great time in Beloit. This tournament sets the standard for a FUN tournament.

Some things that made the tournament so great...

*The course was fantastic. Great course design and short mowed grass made the experience so much better.
*The free BBQ was killer. Thanks to Smitty and Mace for hooking that up.
*The list of sponsors was huge. I went to Plum Creek Meats for lunch Saturday and their food was excellent.
*CTP prizes, run for the roses, and the bonus cash.
*The atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and everyone was having a blast.

Thanks so much for keeping this event one of Kansas' best!

Oh yeah, the laugh off with Scooba was quite hysterical. What do you get when you mix southern KS discers, Beloit, and 1am?....Frennis. Combination of ultimate frisbee and volleyball on a tennis court. They just said "make a rule" and the sport was born. Firing squad glow par 2 was a riot as well. And somebody is going to have to jump off that damn bridge!! (I'm going to need you guys to line up over there)

Just because I know how much pride you all take in your event, I'll give a couple of suggestions for next time.

If shirts are a part of player packs, get some sizes that will fit women, kids, and shrimp such as myself.

If discers are camped out next to a pin placement, tell them to move it. I saw most were gone by Sunday morning, but we didn't get to play the alts on holes 3, 10, 15, 17, and 18. It's fun to see both sides of the course in a 4 round event. The alts we did get to play were a lot of fun.

If there is bonus money or such, spread it out evenly in the pro master or especially the open men and women divisions. When you ask the question why players don't move up to Open, the answer is pretty simple. I could have taken $100 in plastic, some bonus cash, and got my sandbagger picture taken for a cool trophey if I played advanced. Instead, zip. 4 of us were basically playing for our entry back and we were good sports to do so. Imagine how Smitty and Babbit would feel if we all had played down. Another reason players don't move up is because its more acceptable to win over and over than it is to play back down once you've moved up. Since their entry fees are higher and cashing disparity is so much greater in the open division, it is a true statement that open players are the biggest donators to the game. Only a few are the biggest winners. I know there is only so much you can do. We have had a lot of pro players in past events and I would like to see that again.

I'm sure there are some other perspectives on these things. Just some food for thought. You know I'll be back!

I think that Mike may have a pretty good point on the "sandbagging" thing. It has always and will always be a problem.

One way I see to get people to move up would be bigger players packs in the am fields, and less or even no payout other then a trophy. For example you pay $30 to play. You get 2 discs when you sign-up. Then every single am player gets the same payout minus the trophy. Another thing that keeps people from moving up is picking your own plastic at the awards.

There could be a Pro 2 division.

If that was the case, I think that some of the Advanced players would jump up. I also think that some of the players in the current Pro division would and could jump down. Only problem I see with that, The Pro division would shrink, then we would have people bagging in the Pro 2 division for ever. You would have to have some kind of rule that you could only cash so many times in Pro 2.

Before I played Pro at PDGA events, I spent a year playing both. If it was PDGA Advanced. If it was a KDGA event only Pro. It was a great way to become a better player. If every shot you throw isn't important, you are not going to become a better player. Lets face it. Even in the Advanced division if you throw a disc OB, you are probably going to be OK, because everyone else is going to throw one OB also during the round. When you are playing against Ron, Eric, and Kevin you cannot ever count on them messing up, and when they do, you have to take advantage of it.

It looks to me like the AM 3 were the only division that didn't have "baggers" in it.

Advanced I would say the cut off would be around 220-225?
Am II 222-227?
Advance Masters - MR. V would have won old farts.

You never know that. It is the same as if an advanced player shoots good enough to cash in open and everyone calls him (or her) a sandbagger. The truth is the circumstances are different if someone plays up or down. They would have played with different people on different starting holes at different times. Take into account the different level of pressure between the two divisions, when the wind is blowing, and waiting on tee boxes. Maybe you shoot better, maybe you shoot worse. I don't think anyone would shoot exactly the same.

I agree with Austin also.

I don't think Mike would have shot the same. I think he would have shot better.

He had me in his ear the last few holes telling him. "Each stroke is important!".

I think it is for the most part easier for a player in the Open division to move down and do well, then it is for a person in the Advanced division to move up and play well.

Here is what the innova website and climo have to say about baggers

It is pretty disappointing having such a small field.

In all honesty, it wouldn't be so hard to cash if everyone who should play Open on the Oz Tour played it. The payout would be deeper, which means that everyone would have a better chance to get into a paying spot. There is no reason there shouldn't be 10 open players at every event. Especially with 70+ people.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
