I have quite a few pictures of the Tourney and final 9 that I would be glad to share. Some of them are in an album but some are not. I think I got most of the folks in the Final nine (including a great shot of Tony driving) on a disc somewhere.

I would love to see: Dick Parker, Pete Cashen, Fred Smith, Tavish, John Chapman and a host of others make the event.
I'd love to, but can't make it again this year. Honestly, I think we tried to stay away from GBO and moved the SSR (Swope Spring Renewal) a week earlier than last year based on last year's PDGA schedule, but the 2009 PDGA schedule came out after we'd made arrangements for that event, and GBO also moved a week earlier independent of us. So much for advance planning. The SSR has been held around the same time for the past 12 years now.

I've always tried to make the GBO before it was moved from August into April, but the date changed meant GBO was now scheduled against a lot of already pre-existing events in the area (mainly north of here). I'm not bashing on anyone here, Jeremy and the Emporia club made the decision that was best for them, but last year it caused some problems in other areas and contributed to the popular Graceland tourney in Lamoni, IA not happening, although a big ice storm in January helped do that as well (Graceland is back this year on it's traditional weekend, the last weekend in April). GBO still had 142 players last year, so I really don't think SSR hurt GBO's attendance much last year, and I suspect you won't lose many players to SSR this year, either. It's more likely you'll lose some players to the Omaha PDGA events the same weekend. Local KC players who want to play doubles and/or don't go to many PDGA events, or can only play one day that weekend will stay here and play SSR. Looks like we sent about 25 KCFDC members down to Emporia last year, I would suspect this year will be no different. I'd love to go, but it's not in the cards this year. Pete doesn't play many 2-day events, Tavish has been real busy with other things lately, but I suspect at least Fred and Dick will go to GBO this year as they did last year. Jeremy runs a great event, and I'll always tell people to go play Emporia if they want to play in a good 2-day tourney.

Have you guys looked at the updated list yet? You are not going to want to miss this. You will not see some of these people play unless you hit an NT or go to a Major.

Nikko, Avery, Nate, Paul McBeth, Ulli, Billings, Blazek. These guys have all been killing it this year! There are 4 guys in that list who could win a Worlds title before they are done golfing.

Not to mention EMac!

I broke my left wrist about a month ago and had 3 pins put in but now they have been taken out so it doesn't bother me to throw now. Even though I am right handed I never knew that my left arm was that important lol. I could feel the pins when I threw while they were in so I could only throw 40 percent to stay out of the painful zone just from the movement.

The Rodeway Inn & Suites is the place to go and is less than 5 minutes away from the course.

3181 West Hwy. 50
Emporia, KS 66801
(620) 342-7820

Call and ask for the Disc Golf Tournament discount. Rooms are $50 for a single or a double. Last year they had a continental breakfast, pool, and hot tub to use.

As of right now the city and parks department will be allowing camping in the park over the weekend. Just thought I would let people know about this option.

Just a few more announcements:

-Brian Cooper just got back from Iraq and is hosting a party at his house Friday and Saturday night. There will be plenty of keg beer and camping spots available in the back yard if you don't want to stay at the park. His house is located at 418 West Street which is just south of the old Wendy's on 6th Street. He leaves for Afghanistan shortly after the tournament on a more dangerous deployment and wants to really enjoy his time here.

-Worried about the conclusion of this event taking too long to tally up scores, settle ties, and figure payout? Don't! We will have everything posted on the PDGA and payouts figured five minutes after the last card is turned in!

-Bring your partner DDoubles on Friday. $20 per team with an amateur and a pro division. If you are playing pro in the event you can not play amateur for doubles.

-Lunch is provided on both Saturday and Sunday.

-Registration ends Friday night so get signed up today!

-Skins Match layout will be posted shortly.

Not really that much for an A tier. I'm sure it won't keep the event from having a high attendance.

League is only what, $5?, for those who want a cheaper alternative for competition on these courses.
