KDSSF Scholarship Tourney @ Tick Ranch
Re: KDSSF Scholarship Tourney @ Tick Ranch
Those pictures are so misleading. They are the before shot of the area before it was trimmed. All the dead trees are now stumps about 3 feet hign with no branches. The live trees with dead on them have the dead cut out. As stated earlier, over 100 man hours been spent cleaning this up. On another tally, I bet it is closer to 300 man hours. The course looks way different. Also want to remind people to bring cash as there are cheap discs to buy, merchandise at below retail and the autographed Worlds Disc up for auction. Doesn't everybody want to own a disc with Iqbals and Crispins signature. It's up for grabs with other great players on there with them.

Temperature will be good, so a little rain cant hurt.
Never, under any circunstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxitive the same night.

Looks like 3 of the young guns will be heading up with me.

10 down doesn't cash in Open. The course was short, but not that easy! Espescially with the wind. Great victory Scooba!
Great tournament Jeff & Bill! Thanks for keeping this great cause going!

Re: KDSSF Scholarship Tourney @ Tick Ranch
I really enjoyed playing today at the ranch, although we played the exact same holes! they played different because the wind had shifted to another direction. So it would definately make the disc selection different, HHMMM hyzer or anhyzer. The young guns had a blast and everyone took to them like they were a sibling of their own, giving different advice, discussing options, different disc etc. I think the youngsters are going to be a regular part of the KDGA tournaments and thats awsome. Whoops I forgot I did have one complaint to whoever decided it was a good idea to spark up in front of one of kids during the first round, YOUR AN IDIOT. This is not the example we need to be sending to these kids, what you do is your business but next time you might not be lucky enough to finish the tournament. Last thing, a great big thanks to Jeff, Bill and everyone else that made it possible for this tounament to exist. See you next year, hopefully with more Jrs.

Re: KDSSF Scholarship Tourney @ Tick Ranch
First goes a big thank you to all the players that showed. It is your support that keeps the scholarship alive. I'm sure the kids thank you when part of there first year of school is paid for. We raised around $1000 this year from entry fees of $230; mullies of $215; Cash Donations of $224; Auction Proceeds of $50 and sales of $261. Won't know the final talley until all the bills are paid. Half of what was raised will go toward next years scholarship.
Aces were had by Tom Vierthaler in the morning and Chad Garrison in the afternoon; both on hole 9.
CTP's were won by Jeremiah Emrich, Crispin, Marcus Sumner,Robin, Bryce Hooper, Caleb Tapia and Terry Burley.
Cash Donations were made by Brett Underwood, Buddy Kassner, Bill Paulson, Marcus Sumner, and Robin Reimer.
For those that stayed home because of rain, it sprinkled about 10 minutes the start of second round. The wind blew pretty good the second round which caused the cash division scoring average to go up 4 strokes. The first round was overcast and only a slight breeze; perfect conditions for Kansas.
The Tick Ranch Results: 46 players.

Re: KDSSF Scholarship Tourney @ Tick Ranch
I forgot two things. Every hole has now been birdied during tournament play. It may have happened before, I just never looked and was going off memory which as you all know, I am getting old and forgetful. Both Bo Carrasco and Iqbal dueced #11 Sleepy Hollow. Number 13 was in a new position so it was a first timer to be played and it was birdied by Jeff Ring and Bill Paulson.
The other thing was a big Thank you, not only to the players but to those that have donated merchandise to the tournament and/or foundation. Besides Jeff and I, there are some avid supporters of this cause. Chris Smith donates merchandise annually as does many of the Walnut Valley players as individuals and as a club. You know the names: Harv, Dave, Bart, Terry, LeRoy and others. I hate mentioning names as I know someone will be left out. Thanks to all the WVDGA club members. The Parsons Disc Club has really stepped up and made this years scholarship as big as it is. We had an off year last year and Parsons put us over the top to make this the 5th straight year of increased amount for the scholarship. The KDGA helps annually in one method or another. Discs Unlimited always donates something. Norbert from Disc Player donated. Thanks again.
The other big thank you is for all the help preparing the course during the winter. Terry and Leroy, Dave Newsom, Marcus Sumner. I know I am forgetting someone but Jeff would have to come up with that list as I wasn't there every weekend. One day there must have been 6 or 7 dragging brush so I know I forgot someone. You know who you are and thanks.

The 2011 fund raiser is scheduled for March 26th- a saturday. Once again, there will be some cool trophies that will be displayed on your mantle long after the event is over. In the past, everybody has gotten one except the year we forgot to pass them out at awards. Hope to have at least 60 for this year. The course will be the same as last year. No changes as Jeff and Bill have both been busy with other projects. And as usual, Shawns Big Hot Meat will be there. The menu is $6.50 for a 1/3 lb hamburger, chips, cookies, bottle water. Super size for $1.00 more. There will also be other beverages for sale. We publish this now so you know whether you want to eat there or bring your own lunch. More details about the tournament specifics should follow.

Bill-
Myself and the WVDGA will be sending some discs. You can use them how you see fit. CTP's or as payout to boost the scholarship fund.
