Like at the Friz, I heard there was a bit of cheating going on in the advanced division. That really rubs people the wrong way and a lot of folks don't want to have to deal with that stuff.
My thought is that if you are going to go through all the trouble posting flyers on the courses throughout the entire midwest, you should try to run a straight event. It really comes down to the players though, what can you do?
You can't blame Ron for trying to help out.

I do know Ron, and it can be his way or the highway.
I also know the other guys did a lot of work also. I know if I did a ton of work and someone else was given credit for it, I would probably be a little mad.
The biggest problem is the fact that atleast 2 groups had atleast 2 visions for this event. Ron wanted it to be a tourney and Brad wanted it to be a party. Like the Frizzz, I don't think that both can happen and both be worth a darn.

i heard that no one was cheating, but then again i wasnt there just like you..so .either give examples of cheating you witnessed ,or let the person that witnessed it post what they saw.there are always rumors of people cheating at almost every tourny.all you have done is bash on the friz and ponca tourney making people that have never been think they might not want to only based on rumor and speculation..Schoen-hopper wrote:Like at the Friz, I heard there was a bit of cheating going on in the advanced division. what if someone posted something about a rumor of you cheating personaly shoen-hopper?it doesnt take much to say i heard you were cheating and since its obvious no proof or even first hand knowledge was presented by you in your statement.maybe unsubstantiated rumor and speculation is what really rubs people the wrong way..or maybe its just me

The cheating that was going on was Pencil-Whipping (writing a 3 down when it actually took 4-5 strokes to get in the hole and it happened on several different ocasions)....I dont know the name of who was doing it (but it was the person who placed 2nd in advanved) all I know is that something was said while playing to the 3rd person on the card and the 3rd person just shrugged their shoulders, blew it off and acted like nothing was going on. Maybe the had too much to smoke and started counting at zero instead of 1. Who knows????
Ron I think you did a fine job with what you had to work with and thanks to ALL the people that had a hand in this tournament.

I have been beat by people that were cheating at the Friz (whom I caught and confronted) almost every year I played in advanced. It's not saying too much to say that a good deal of players who go to that tournament think they can do whatever they want and call it good.
I see some of this going on through other events, though it is usually limited to certain players and everyone is afraid to call it on them. If referring to picking up 20' putts regardless of how hard the wind is blowing, if that tells you anything.
It does make a diffence because it DOES affect other players. It is basically the same as stealing.
I don't care if this offends anyone. If it doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't. What can we do about it? DON'T CHEAT.

We could adopt the Ball Golf Scoring System.....you keep track of your score and the others in the group and then you compare all the scores at the end of the round.
or just start a list of all the people who cheat and how they cheat and that might set them straight.

Did I get all the KDGA members? Any sign ups? Some of these aren't full names, so I want to make sure I didn't miss anyone. Can you look this over Smitty?

I agree. I played ball golf in hs and college and it was very similar to that. Basically, you were given your card at registration with your name on it. When you go to your hole and meet the people in your group, you trade cards so everyone has someone elses card. You ended up keeping the other persons score the entire round, and if you were smart kept your own as well as others in the group. You were only required to keep your own though. Most of the time it kept people from cheating, but there was still some taking place. I've always thought that passing around all the cards every 3-5 holes was a weird way of doing it... Of course I have a biased opinion...jtkustomizer wrote:Schoen-hopper wrote: What can we do about it?

On another note, that should probably be on another thread, but does anyone know why you circle your score if you throw it out of bounds? Does it have any effect in the long run? Someone told me that it was used when determining a scorecard playoff? Or is it simply a way to draw pictures on the card and let everyone know that you got a 'six' only because you threw it out of bounds?
I was told the same thing when I started playing tournaments.. that it was used to determine place if two people had the same score. I've never seen it used that way though.carlbren21 wrote: On another note, that should probably be on another thread, but does anyone know why you circle your score if you throw it out of bounds?
