Yo 62. Looking forward to slinging some discs with you! I'm taking Friday the 23rd off to move baskets into position. I could probably use a hand with that. Other Prattsters will be working that Friday most likely.

Sounds like Bob's deep into tax season. Wish you could make it, Bob. We'll see you for Pratt's C-Tier PDGA? No more concrete pond on 18, I promise. I want to play Wichita and Colwich this year.

We'll be doing course work the same weekend as the Salina Ice Bowl (or I'd go play that).

Our goal is to make this tourney a low-cost, fun event for everyone. It'll be random draw dubs, hot lunch (indoors), and plenty of acreage. Mullies will be capped. Maybe next year we'll consider getting crazy with unlimited...?

The Lemon Park has a couple of water shots. Let's all hope for freezing weather beforehand.

We're playing the same basic 11-hole layout from the previous Lemon Park Ice Bowl, plus 7 (big long beautiful) holes in Sixth Street park (borders Lemon Park).

Oh yeah -- we'll have (like last year) GENEROUS PLASTIC PRIZES... in Ice Bowl 2007 Merchandise. Hoodies, discs, beanies (also for sale after the event).

*** Bring lots of canned/dry boxed goods! ***

Might be too cold for anyone from Wichita to show up.

I'll most likely be there if I'm not scheduled. Will try and bring a crew if I do.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Did I mention that everyone who plays Pratt's Icebowl gets 10 KDGA points? It's now officially a KDGA Doubles Event.

Course Update:

Post by beisner »

Course Update:

Anchors are in the ground. Today, we go stick 18 mach 5 baskets in 'em. Rain or shine!!

We'll be playing the first round on this new course today at 5pm.
This course comes down the day after our icebowl.

Looks like we'll be getting lucky, just missing the majority of the storm.

We'll be measuring hole distances with a rangefinder today, and I'll post those here tonight.

There are a couple FB considering the trip, but both of us have to work tomorrow night. We're a little worried we might get stuck in Pratt. We'll wait it out until morning. We may see you tomorrow.

Pratt Results

Post by beisner »

Over 200 lbs of canned goods were collected for the Pratt Food Bank.

$110 was raised for the Pratt Food Bank. This is about $30 more than last year, and about 3 times the amount of food from last year. Even though we had 4 or 5 fewer players, we raised more for charity, and had a lot more fun!

We had 16 players from Pratt, Haviland, Wellington, Hutchinson, Lyons, Lawrence and Wichita.

A total of 23 discs were lost to the water holes during tournament play. More than that if you count practice this morning and yesterday afternoon. I personally lost one to hole 2.

The morning round was sunny and 60 degrees! Absolutely beautiful!

The afternoon round was a flatout blizzard with 40 mile-an-hour ice pellets. It was insane.

Results:

104 Cort Hughes & Tom V
106 Robin Reimer & Bud McGraw
107 Brian Shields & Corbin Newland
107 Mark Newland & Joey Castleberry
109 Ryan Beisner & Bryan Tracy
110 Pat Hall & Matt Hansen
115 Brad Shields & Kristen Newland
116 Kenny Mathe & Sam from Haviland

Matt took CTP on hole 11.
I took CTP on hole 4.

Thanks to all who played, helped prepare and execute this event!

We plan to do it again next year. We were pleased with the positive feedback on the course.

We signed up several KDGA members today. Sold 4 KDGA fundraiser discs. I'll be sending new members in on Monday.

No ace was hit. We'll be putting $16 into KDGA Ace + $50 to the KDGA for the sanctioned event.

Greetings from Louisiana. Sorry we missed the event but we have been spoiled with all this great 70+ degree weather. Don't miss the snow. Glad you guys had a decent turnout and sounds like you really had some food to take down to the foodbank. Disc golfers in the area have never heard of Ice Bowls and to think of it, I have never heard the word "ice" and "Louisiana" in the same sentence.

Hope everyone is well. Did ya save me a red, size Large, hoody? I can mail you a check and get you my address.

Love to KS from Louisiana.

Sounds like you had a great event. Great course, eh? Too bad the weather forcast scared some players away. Sounds like it was fun anyway. Nice job kicking the KDGA tour off in style.

As soons as all the new member's names are added to the members list, I'll post the first points standings page for 2007.

Ode to Smitty! Hole #5, Lemon Park.

Either go for it with a midrange, or hyzer out and hope it doesn't kick off a tree. Basket was about 20 ft past the bank.

I actually stayed dry on this one.
