Thanks for those of you that have pre-registered so far. Now for the really really good news. I went to some of the Ashland businesses this morning and early afternoon and raised $180 in added prize money. Three other businesses also donated some very cool prizes for CTP's and Run for the Roses. I went to Eleven businesses and only one said that they weren't interested. You will never find a more generous community than Ashland. Please show your support to this great town by registering and showing up to this tournament. I will be going to Dodge City all day tomorrow and will try and get a few sponsorships there for the Saturday tournament and then back to Ashland Wednesday and Thursday. I have 10-15 more businesses to ask and I'm sure that more than half of those will donate something. Thanks again, in advance, for all your support. I would love to break a record and have this first tournament the most players of any course debut. Anyone have an idea what that record might be? I will be posting more tournament news as it becomes available.

The local "Ranch House" donated $20 for the tournament and she said that she will be offering biscuits and gravy for Sunday Morning Breakfast along with the regular menu items. Hope you will support her and show her that we appreciate her support. I plan to be there at 8am. (Good Home Town Cooking!!!)
There are two Bed & Breakfast places and a motel in Ashland. I will try to contact all of them tomorrow and see if any of them will give us a rate break. I will post my findings on Thursday.

I hit the streets one more time today. I raised an additional $100. I also picked up some cool items for the players packs. And there are still a few individuals deciding what they can do for me. The Payout could be up to double what a normal tournament is, per player, so come get a piece of the action before it's too late. I would hate to have this very generous town feel like they wasted their money on only 10-15 disc golfers.

Unfortunately, I can't make the tournament successful all by myself. All I can do is my part to the best of my ability. What makes a tournament successful are the good quality players that show up do their very best. The turnout and the great scores achieved is what makes a tournament great. The hard work of the Tournament Director is what, hopefully, brings the good quality players to his tournament. If I don't get a good turnout to my tournament then I didn't do my job as a TD and will need to work harder and do something different the next time to insure that the turnout will be better. That is one of the factors that go into my decision to attend a tournament. Did the TD do all he could to make his tournament inviting and will it be worth it for me to drive 2-4 hours to play disc golf for one or two days? Are the people that I love to play disc golf with also going to be there? Will I come away from the tournament wanting to return year after year? Take the "Friz" for example. Winfield is just a place on the map. It's not Winfield that makes you want to attend year after year. It's not the baskets or the grounds. It's the people and the activities and all the hard work that Harv and his family does that makes it successful. That's why we come back. It's the anticipation of the event and what we take home with us.
