Hope everyone makes it to Colwich on March 8th. Time change again that night when you loose an hour. Every year the course gets more groomed (except in 2005 after the ice storm). The city is doing a great job mowing. Club members have been out cleaning up trees that hinder throws around the baskets. And they have two more work days planned. The event will be two rounds of singles on the two pro tees. (Recreational tees will still be used for the novice/beginner/youth.) Even though the two courses have given up some low scores (7 under on red) it still remains a fact that very few (less than 10) have scored below par for the tournament. Come try your hand. Details will come later. This is not a PDGA event.

ACDGC League will be out there both days this coming weekend. At 9am, work will start for cleaning up the course. Please show up if you can. League will follow.

After two work days by a bunch of golfers, the course looks great. New bridges, trees trimmed and fairways nicely mowed, come play one of the toughest courses in Kansas. Course record is 94 but there are still only a few that can say they have finished under par. Still dirt tees. Hope to have hard tees next year and then will look at being a PDGA event. Entry fees similar to last year. Pro men last year was $35 with all fees (ace and KDGA) paid, this year is $35 with only KDGA fees paid. Same true of other divisions.

Bill has run this event since the beginning of the course. He keeps it simple and sweet. Despite a history of bad weather (except last year), this event usually draws a big crowd. Entry fees are standard for the event, can't remember what they were. If pro is 35, adv. would be 5 or 10 less and am2 would be 5 less than that. Tees are one round red, one round blue. Except for those divisions listed that will play yellow both rounds. Always a great time, and this course makes you play some golf.

I am going to change the fee structure a little this year at the urging of a few players. The fee will include a $2 KDGA fee and a $3 ace fund that you can opt out of and get your $3 back at registration. We will play red tees in the morning and blue in the afternoon except juniors and novice that will play yellow. There is no automatic ace fund for these two divisions; it will cost you extra. Anyone playing these tees will not receive KDGA points greater than the last place finisher of the Red/Blue combination.
Pro Men $40
Pro Women $25
Masters $35
Grand Masters $25
Advanced $35
Am II $25
Am Women $20
Am Master $30
Novice $10
Junior $10

I really like how the divisions are set up to encourage novice players to step up in order to be competitive. ( and not bag it)

I'm sure the tee off time will be close to 10:00am. You'll want to be there by 9am to get signed up and attend the players meeting.
For the tees, we decided last year (kinda after the fact), that for events that use 6 or more significantly shorter tees, that these divisions' players can't earn more points than the last place long tee players.

That's fine and I suppose somewhat understandable. I'm just pumped to play against competition for the first time.

Thanks for adding this Bill. We had some people last year who bagged in the lower divisions, then were not happy they got fewer points. With that said, Chuck you better play from the longer tees this year.

Ok, guess I won't be attending this year....I'll get to play Colwich sooner or later.
