checked around, the cheapest so far is the econolodge which appears to be within walking distance of Jones Park, eh? $50/night.....is this place a shithole or what? As long as it's not any worse than the Chief Lamoni, I'm there.

try travel lodge! The pool was under re- construction and the motel itself was being run by a bank last time I was there. The room was clean, no bad smells etc.cont. breakfast 1/2 mile off course. Not bad! Across from Econolodge.

Host hotel info will be posted tomorrow for everyone.

This year we will be adding a new twist to the final skins match! Everyone should be excited about this one! The details are still not set in stone but right now we are looking at doing the top four open scores as the automatic qualifiers for the skins. These four players will be paired up other players who are picked from the raffle. To get in to the raffle you can either purchase a CFR/full color fundraiser disc or purchase a $5 raffle ticket. The doubles format will be a few different variations. More details on this to come but we think this will be an exciting change and give everyone a chance to play in the skins match.

Well, Smitty is really the PIMP behind the idea! I think it is an awesome thing to do for a tournament like this. I'm hoping that it encourages players to buy a fundraiser disc or a raffle ticket in hopes to get a chance to play in the skins match. I think it will help get more players involved with the conclusion of the event.

Love the skins idea. Can't wait.

Who's hosting the Texas hold'em tourney Friday and Sat night? Inquiring Greenspleaf's and company want to know.

I am sure that a few of the ladies may be upset.

If they had a pulse they pretty much got to play the skins match the last two years.

I think this will be pretty cool. Every person at the tourney has a chance to play in the finals. For some of them it may be the biggest stage they ever get to play on, and that will be pretty cool.

I hope it works out as well as it sounds. It would just be one more thing that sets DD above most of the rest.

Poker can be set up at one of the local bars which happens to be a tournament sponsor. They will open up the upstairs part of the bar. I'll confirm all the details shortly but that could be a good time for sure. We might even have a putting competition in there.

The Rodeway Inn & Suites is an excellent hotel to stay in. I talked with them on the phone yesterday and they were willing to offer $50 a night for a single room when mentioning "DISC GOLF". They were very nice on the phone and are sponsoring a hole at the event so I strongly recommend this hotel to stay in. As of right now they are out of double queen beds for Friday but do have some Saturday. Some of these rooms might open up before the tournament though. They have a pool and hot tub and 'continental breakfast.

I think the Travelodge changed to the Guesthouse Inn and they were only willing to offer a double for $75 a night.

The EconoLodge has the best rates but I had the most frustrating conversation on the phone with their manager (who doesn't speak English very well) that I would almost pay the difference out of my own pocket to keep us out of there. They are offering $46.79 for a single and $53.99 for a double. I don't think they have a pool but do have a continental breakfast in the morning. Phone # (620) 343-7750

I hope this information helps out.

The last two years have featured the mixed doubles. I felt like it was promoted that way to bring in more Open Women. It seemed to have the opposite effect because we had a very low attendance from Open Women last year. What can we do to attract more women to this event?

The new skins match will be exciting and I see it getting more people involved in watching the conclusion of the tournament. This could be the biggest stage that some of these players will ever play in.

Thanks for the hotel info Jeremy.

As far as attracting the women, I've seen a few things done up here you might try. I'd suggest a discounted entry fee where maybe your club or some other sponsor matches half or all of what they put in, something along those lines---basically more added cash for 'em. I've seen it done in Iowa a few times.

As for 'em being excluded in the finals, technically they're not, they have as much chance as anybody else to play with the guys people want to see play. Great idea, keeps things fresh, instead of the same ole, same ole. And I'm sure you know the cliché that you can't always please everybody. We're looking forwawrd to something different than the usual drive down to Lamoni this spring. :D
