Ozark Mountain Open, April 19 & 20

Post by Schoen-hopper »

I stole this from KC's forum. It doesn't sound very realistic to attend this one with 1 round on Sat. and 2 on Sun. Just thought I'd throw it on here as this course is said to be one of the most difficult in the world. I think it used to be permanent until a couple of years ago. Length plus trees plus hills. I always wanted to check it out.

IT's BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

I can vouch for it. If I hadn't already made plans to come to GBO the following weekend, I'd have been in Vichy instead. Shame on Dave for waiting so long to announce this. Upside is, I get to play courses I've never seen in Emporia the following weekend.

But, if you haven't been to Vichy, and you can take the time to go, I highly recommend it. Great camping weekend, great golf. Hopefully this isn't a one time deal. I'd love to go back. He used to run this in the spring and fall. I've played there twice. The courses, especially the Mountain course, are sick.

Sounds like DD will have something to do with this tournament. I have been talking with David to see what we can do to make this a very successful event. He wants players to know that it is more than a Gateway event so he wants DD to get Innova and Discraft plastic for the payout.

I`ve been to this one and on a dry year it`s tough. The creek really plays.Rated really high on my list of finest challenges around. The scale of these hole is awesome .Laid in the Ozarks near Rolla Mo., elevation really plays a serious role. Ask Babbit ! nice course Great tourney !show up early and camp out.Feels a lot like early friz atmosphere! 8)

I don't know. The Innova discs don't come in until Friday morning so sometime after that. What were you thinking?

I can drive up there Friday morning, while you wait on discs. Just tell me what time you want me there.

So how was it? Was it flooded and buggy?

Was the Ozark Mo. Par 72 course the craziest you have ever seen? Lets hear the details. How about the other course?

Who won it?

Looks like SSA 73 in the first round! That's unbelievably tough.

Yeah, I remember the first time I went down there in '02, I shot 77, and for that point in time in my disc golf career, I thought I'd played one of the best rounds of my life! It was highly unfortunate that due to some Saturday night activities that left my ankle shredded, I was unable to play Sunday on the lead card.....

Side note, I believe that Nikko was about 13, and got 9th out of 12 in novice that weekend, my how times have changed.

I heard everybody camped up top last weekend by the old house because it was too wet down below where we used to camp at past Ozark Mtn. events.

Yeah, most people were up top. Dave didn't want people driving around cause of the mud, and nobody wanted to walk up the hill!

The course was crazy hard, I played Akita's Run, the easier course the first two times. By the time I got to Ozark Mountain Course, I was so tired I just couldn't put much more effort into it.

It seemed like every hole was uphill, except for hole 5 and hole 11. I can't believe my 101 round was rated so high. I guess a stroke was 5.5 rating points! I wonder if they will get adjusted.

I played that one about 5 years ago too, what did you think about that uphill hole, the one you the needed a rope to climb the fairway?

It reminded me of a hole at the canyon actually. Straight up hill. Throw something understable and hope it doesn't catch edge and roll down the hill OB into the water! :o
