Putting help

Post by superq »

Ok so I have motivation to actually work on my putting. I set up the basket in the yard, marked off 5 foot incriments from 15 to 45feet.

Now I need help. I can not get comfortable with a putt. I used to throw a lob type putt ( learned to putt with a cyclone)(thanks a lot glenn) then I moved to more of a push lob still not great since wind kills it, and it is falling into the bucket.
Recently I have been playing around with more of a throw type putt simmular to Laron and Converses putting style, from the chest with hyzer dead center chains, the problem is that the further away I get the more I tend to Anny the putter and that is not desireable for me. Not to mention that when I am inside 20 feet this style tends to bounce out since there is so much speed on it.
Typically I set up with my right foot toe pointed at about 10o clock with my left foot stagered out to the left to give a solid base, there is really not a noticable weight shift.

any advise on a putt that I can work on and practice to get my range and percentage up there?

Does anyone else have more than one putt they use inside 50 feet? I seem to lob 20 and in and out to about 50 chest throw them. :?: :?:

Have Smitty tell you about the air bounce. He told me and that moved me up to my next big level of putting. It will help you be able to putt longer distances using almost the same motions and efforts as a 10 footer.

It will cost you.

You have watched Ronverse, it is what he does on long putts. Just get the nose up a little, it needs to have some anhyzer on it also. It allows you to "go for" a long putt with out having to hit a 25 foot come backer.

Watch all the people who can long putt after long putt. Their disc always come past chain high, and doesn't end up way past if they miss. The bad thing is if you hit the top of the basket. The disc will land on an edge and be gone.

yea that helps, it is kinda what I was going at. If I remember right Ron has his right foot toes pointed at the hoop, and he brings the disc up from the waist and pushes it straight into the chains. Nose up I can do, the problem is still in the wrist and arm. I see most consistant putters putts fly with little to no wobble, Mine fly like a wounded duck when I putt like that, is it to much arm or to much wrist or something else?

I feel like I am getting plenty of spin on the disc, Especially when I release with a little hyzer, the anny idea is a little odd to me, seems like when I try that I end up missing right a lot.

Say your putting from 25-30'. Where do you miss?

I usually miss low and right. More hyzer, more spin, more nose up, less power has helped me adjust.

I feel like I usually know the best way to putt in different conditions. I'll use several different techniques. I think of the air bounce putt as kind of an ann-hyzer stall.

Actually executing a putt as I'm planning is a different story. Hopefully it will have a happy ending. :D

Does the jump putter need to get involved in this conversation? I've heard that guy can a make a couple feet worth of putts in a round.

My personal opinion on putting. HYZER PUTT HYZER PUTT HYZER PUTT. If you can hit basket everytime, they will start falling eventually.

I know that If my confidence was higher I would be making at least half the putts I miss. About 90% of the time that I miss i am face masking or barely hitting the nubs. Deffinetly a slight hyzer on putts isn't a bad idea. Especially jump putts.
