Gripping the disc

This might be a stupid question but is there a difference in gripping the disc with three fingers underneath the disc and four fingers underneath and thumb on top. I can get myself to grip the disc with four fingers underneath. I feel I have more control with just three fingers underneath and thumb on top slightly away from the edge. Does one finger make a difference in the distance of the throw. If this makes sense to anyone, can you please give me a tip or two.

Tbone, I throw 3 fingers also. If I put the 4th one on there I can not get the nose of the disc down. I tried for a couple weeks without luck. I have been told that the 4th finger does make a difference on distance though.

I'd say use whatever works. There really is not just one "right" way to grip a disc. Sometimes I power grip and only my pointer and middle finger are really gripping the disc. My other two fingers are just gently resting on the inside of the rim.
