Kanas USDGC State Rep

Post by smitty »

I have the job of picking a resident of Kansas to represent the rest of us at the USDGC.

Remember this year the title will be based on how a person does vs. their current PDGA rating. A handicapped event if you will. So when picking the rep., I want to pick a player who is "better" then their player rating.

Anyone who wants the spot please let me know.

Bo would be an the perfect person for this spot. Bo's player rating is nowhere near his skill level.

Give me names of people you think would make a good rep.

Don't hesitate to throw your own name in the hat if you want a chance to play.

Buh is a great choice. Unruh, Ruder, and especially Wiggins are also better than their current ratings. So are you, Smitty. But the higher up you go in ratings, the harder it is going to be to beat your rating by a significant amount, right? It might be the year of the am (or am2 as the case may be).

I'm a 920 rated player. Starting to doubt that I'm better than that. What does it cost, a couple hundred bucks?

Crispin, have Bo get in touch with me, if he is interested in going and would go.

Swede, Ronruh is AWAL, Ruder qualified at GBO, Wiggins would be a good call also.

Hopper, looked online looks like it is $100 to play this year. They asked for both shirt and shoe size? Chances a pair of Keens will be waiting in your players pack.

I would also put Kintzel on this list of possibilities. He has shot multiple 1000 rated rounds this year. Just putting out another name for us to consider.

Just be sure to pick someone who can make the trip, im sure a week of vacation needs to be scheduled sooner rather than later, maybe I can talk JP into giving my passes to whoever you send.

So here is the short list.

Bo
Hopper
Kanoli

I am going to put something on the KC forum.

I want to make the call in the next couple of weeks to give the person time to plan.

Another thing I'd think about is maybe people who've done a lot for disc golf in Kansas, or areas of Kansas, and want to go. The key is, they have to go and represent. This is a good opportunity to pick that guy who runs all those events, and never gets to play in them.

Is the qualifying the same for the event this year as years past? In this case, mostly pros would qualify, though I imagine many will not want to play this year. And how exactly will the payout work? Sounds like I need to do some more browsing.

Qualifying is based how you played vs. your rating at a qualifying event. No, most Top Pros are not going to play, because they have little to no chanced of winning. They aren't really sure how they are going to mix the cards. The best score will not be winning the event.

As far as payout, it is players pack and trophy only.

Watch the Jonathan Poole video on the front page of PDGA.

Mike I am sure this format is right up your alley. Number crunching.
