Nearly 200 Ace Races were held around the world this season, and now comes good news for the thousands of players who fell in love with the 2007 prototype Ace Race disc: it is now PDGA approved for tournament play. The disc has been named the Impact, and is classified as a long range driver with a 0.0 stability rating.

A long range driver? Hm.. It's got really good glide to it but I wasn't terribly impressed. It may of just been the wind but it didn't seem too predicatable to me..

In Discraft classes of discs, yup long range driver, along with the Storm, Glide, Stratus, Eclipse. And the predictability, I'd say thats a good rating, and how predictable it is, well, that depends on the thrower. :D

I thought it threw pretty much like a straight mid range. Not stable enough for headwind, but not terribly hard to control.

One thing I thought was dumb was the crosshatching for grip. It collects dirt very quickly and it is difficult to remove.

It went into my bag. I like the disc for those shots that i need a mid range and dont have the opption to hyzer to the basket . this thing flys really strait and holds that strait line well. I dont like how its hard to control a hyzer or anhyzer with it. it will go either to tight or to loose in the turn. my red one is more stable than the orange one so i kept it in the bag and gave wife the other . she lkes it because she can get good distance ( for her) with it and control it better than a MRV or even a comet. . we are both pleased . Yes i agree though the cross hatching on it is dumb and really seems to have no purpose other than to collect mud .

I believe it's supposed to create turbulence, creating an air pocket to reduce drag. Then, with the rest of the disc being smooth, creating drag, I think it's supposed to act as a stabilizer. Which, like Ron said, makes it "strangely" stable for it's rim configuration.

But then again, I dropped out of physics, so what do I know? :P
