I've played at Mound Ridge twice now. I love that 9 hole coarse as well. Easy to find, fairly eazy to follow, new large tee pads, brand new Mach II's (I think), right-left-long-& short holes. Super layout, hole 7 plays up by the pool and there is a nice view on your approach. (if the pool is open). 40 minutes from Wichita. Easy place just to stop in and play a quick 9.

Kevin Brown tells me that the baskets at city park (near the nun convent) in concordia are going to be pulled. The park has become very busy and disc golf doesn't fit there anymore. The good news is the course is going to be relocated to airport park. I have been there once and this should be a huge improvement. Kevin says he has done a walk through with a parks official and they are on the way to getting the layout approved.

I went to Peabody and played. Good course, did Smitty design it? I was wondering, with all that room, why is hole #5 so short? Also, I hear Clearwater will be getting their course this week.

5 is short for several reasons.

1) Flow to the course and the need for 9 holes.
2) Safety within the flow.
3) They park all over that place during football games and have water lines running in different places in the park.

It does appear that there is a ton of space, the problem comes when using the available space. All the stuff that wasn't used when you come into the park is because of other park uses. It is all open for portables during a tourney. The park is kind of an odd shape, not long enough to string holes together, not wide enough to have back and forth fairways.

Clearwater has been installed yesterday and today but they immediately pulled it to wait on the concrete tees and then a grand opening soon. Haysville is being installed next Monday tentatively but will not have concrete. I will know more tomorrow. Plan was two tees and two pins for 9 holes and expansion to 18 at a later date if warranted.

Haysville course is in the park a stone's throw from the middle school off Grand ave. In other words, just east of where they hold the High School football games. Map attached with the link below.

Park looks very small, even for 9. Hope they reconsidered some of those crossing fairways.

Haysville = uncertainty. I took the layout and went to Riggs park. Where and how they have it laid out is not good. (IMO) They have plenty of room behind the pool to lay out a kickbut course that would line the tree line, play a little into the park then back up the other side of the trees. Whoever laid this out appears to want discgolfers right in the middle of the multiuse areas. I work with two people that live right there and one of them plays disc golf casually. They both say when the weather is nice, this park and all the areas where they are putting the course, are PACKED with people and children.

Bill offered to help them with it and I think they said they would involve him. I didn't hear from Bill if they ever got his input.

Talked with bill tonight about this course. By what i understand the pic of the lay out in the link is not what is going on with the course. He said that some changes have been made to the design. Although it also sounds as if it could still be a mess. lol Guess we will have to see what turnes out. He did give them his input . As to weather thay will take his advise is yet to be seen.

Yep, same park. Harvey called it the Haysville Not-Open. It will now be called the Haysville Now-Open. The city official that designed this claims there will not be any interference with people. I am not certain of that but the map that is posted is not accurate. We moved what we could to avoid most of the people using the park. The area around the pool will be the future expansion to 18. The basket sleeves are going in next week. Initially there will be one tee and one pin but will expand to two each if use warrants and 9 more baskets. The Clearwater course has been installed but pulled immediately to await a grand opening scheduled for April 9th. It is a two pin two tee (concrete) 9 hole configuration that is a good design for what there was to work with. Not many obstacles but there are more planned. There is an active golfer that lives across the street that will oversee the operations and push for more landscaping. There is also a practice skill shot area for kids behind the middle school. Put April 9th on your calender. Haysville may be open as soon as next Wed at the earliest. It is being installed be Honor Students as a community service project to meet graduation requirements.
