"The Leg" sounds crazy. I could see some really unusual shots and scores here.
Still want to play pro-am match play doubles. Not sure how to work it into a league event. Could keep singles scores separate and pay out half the fund like a regular singles night.
Handi-Jack would be a lot of fun, but it takes too long to play the CTP game and play singles. You could just forget about the singles part. You would just have to figure out who gets the point for making the putt. Could use the scramble score to compete against other teams.
Anyone tried any new rules variants lately?

Fun Formats
Re: Fun Formats
Someone on DGCR listed a whole bunch of these some time back.

Here's a single card format that I'd like to try sometime. Will probably require score cards and a tape measure or a long string. Plays just like stroke play except you award points by players beating their opponent in terms of strokes and by being CTP prior to holing out (not necessarily on their drive). There are two types of points. "Descending order" points which will always be awarded as such.
Heads-up 1-0; 3 players 2-1-0; 4 players 3-2-1-0; 5 players 4-3-2-1-0. The better you do in relation to the group, the more D.O. points you get. This also determines the box order for the next hole instead of the usual method.
And then there are "stroke" points. 1 point for each player on your card you beat in terms of strokes.
So say you have a foursome playing. Everyone takes their drive. Player A is 40' out, player B is 50' out, player C is 65' out, and player D is 80' out. (You don't have to measure unless you're unsure who's closer, and unless two players from similar distances both hit long shots, distance is usually not an issue). Player D does his upshot, and ends up 12' out. Player C then goes and ends up 10' out. Player B then goes and ends up 8' out.
So, say you're player A. All of your opponents are almost certain to par. You could probably close your eyes and lay up within 8' of the basket. If you do make it closer than the other three lies and everybody pars, nobody would get any stroke points. But by being closest in two shots, you'd get 3 descending order points, Player B would get 2 points, Player C 1 point, and Player D none.
But lets say you go for that 40' putt and make it. By getting a birdie and having the only birdie, you'd still get the 3 descending order points, but you'd get 3 additional stroke points for beating the other three players for a total of six, and then the other three players would be awarded out 2-1-0 accordingly for their pars. OTOH, say you go for that putt and miss and it rolls outside of 12' meaning you're now "out" and then everyone makes par. Again, no stroke points, but now player B would get the 3 descending order points (since he was closest in two shots), player C - 2 points, player D-1 point, and you zero.

Re: Fun Formats
This is similar to what a group of us did a few times last year.
We be quarters on each hole.
Quarter to the CTP
Quarter to the Longest Made shot
You could throw throw another quarter in for winning the hole.

Re: Fun Formats
That does sound interesting Scott. You got to decide whether you are better at putting or throwing horseshoes. Strategy would change depending on how close your opponents were.
Smitty, I think you are reffering to the game called bingo, bango, bongo.
And then there is Bocce....

Re: Fun Formats
"Quarters" made me think of another one that might be fun. You bring an empty coffee/snack can with a slit in the top like a donation can. Everyone brings a bag of quarters (say $15-20 worth). For every shot that you throw that doesn't land in the basket, you contribute a quarter to the can. Penalty strokes cost 50 cents. So a standard '3' would cost a player 50 cents (25 cents for his drive and 25 cents for his upshot). You can also add other "fines" for things like worst score on the hole or hitting trees for fun, or "free passes" for CTPs or best score.
At the end of the round, divide up all the quarters in the can evenly (residual quarters go the players with better scores). Obviously, the more shots you throw, the more of the quarters contributed will be yours, and the fewer that you'll walk away with.

Re: Fun Formats
the BINGO, BANGO, BONGO we play for points or maybe could be money
BONGO - First on the green is bongo and recieves pt.
BINGO - If and only if everyone is on the green then closes to pin "Bingo" recieves a point. if someone holes out without being on green then there is no bingo
BANGO - First to Bang the putt! revieves a point. this game actually can be an advantage players without a big arm due to they would be farther out and shoot first
TO counter that advantage we give a pt. to someone if they out right win a hole, they get the box which is an advantage on shorter holes that can be reached on the drive with first chance at bongo.
PIG or chase the rabbit are options.
