G.B.O. Fantasy Golf thread.

Post by Ruder »

Alright Ladies, here is the best way I have come up with to get this going.

#1 - You will create a list of 16 players (this is currently half the field) in the order that you think they will finish. After the tournament concludes, Only scores to the bottom cash line will be calculated. I.E. If cash is 15th spot, everyones 16th place is dropped off.

#2- All spots will be calculated at 50 points a piece for a correct guess with the exception of 1st place and Last Place Cash being worth 70 points.

#3- (SCORING) For every correct guess, a player will be awarded the appropriate amount of points. For every incorrect guess, a player will have points deducted for every spot away they are based upon the following table:

0 Away = 50 5 = 20
1 away = 45 6 = 18
2 away = 40 7 = 16
3 away = 35 8 = 14
4 away = 30 9 and further = 10

At the end all points will be calculated and the top points earner will be named Glass Blown Fantasy Champion of the WORLD

The points system might need some tweaking? I ran through a bunch of situations and it worked out pretty good.

Also, I think we should add bonuses for picking winners in Adv, Int, Masters, and Open Women. Just one spot, one try for 10 or 15 points.

I'm never organized something like this, but here would be my ideas.

I think you should do a top ten, max. Give a point for every place different each of the picked players end up from the predicition place. Fewest points wins. Disregard the cash line. You could give -5 point bonus for picking 1st place correct. I don't know if you would need to do bonused for any places other than first.

If you wanted to do other divisions other than open, such as advanced, you could do top 5 only. Add the result to the open results, or don't.

If you wanted the points to have a postive value, you could start everyone at 100 and subtract from that instead of adding from 0.

I think you both should just stick to building pizza and planes.

Is there a preregistartion list? It's going to be difficult to make a Fantasy Golf List list if you aren't sure whose going to be there and what division they'll play.

Also, what happens if people in other divisions shoot low enough to place in the top ten in Open?

I guess you would have to use this to make your picks. Not sure when Online Registration closes, but I'm guessing sometime Friday.

How would we want to take everyone's picks? I think nobody should be able to see anyone else's until the tournament has begun. Perhaps all the picks should be made on Friday via private message to a designated person who is not participating.

That's exactly what I was looking for, Schoen-Hopper. Thanks!

You wanna count up from 0 or down from 100?

You wanna have a bonus for picking the winner? 5 pts. or 10?

I don't think I should participate since I'm the TD. What would everyone think about me being the person in charge of accepting the entries for this?

If there are ten people who do this do we pay out the top five? First place being $50, 25, 15, 5, 5?

I think there would be more players than that who would do this but who knows. I would want to have this available on paper for all the players who register on Friday. I think when people show up on Friday after doubles they would want to do this. Any suggestions here? Should players be able to register for this even after the first round during lunch? or would that be an unfair advantage? or should this be something that we would do right before the players meeting since we would have every pro entry? Friday night I would have every pro entry filled out on a sheet of paper and all you would have to do Saturday is put 1-10 next to the names?

Should we have a point system set up for the Open Masters as well?

If anyone else wants to be in charge of this that would be great too. I just really like to see this take place and will be the 'neutral' person in charge.

Maybe you could include the fantasy pick sheet in the player packs (i.e. give one to everybody), mention it at signup so it's not overlooked, and indicate on the sheet that they are due by the end of the players meeting prior to the tourney start Saturday morning.

Now we are getting somewhere.

Rusco, you could definitely play. If the players can get in on it, the TD can. I don't think it matters who runs it because there is no way to mess it up unless you add up the points wrong.

Your saying make it $10 a head? $5 might be better. Make the payout heavy toward the top, or even winner take all. Also, some people who want to play this, like myself, might not be able to make it up. So I'd have to owe somebody.

You can't let anybody get it after the tournament starts.

I say keep it simple and do open division only.

Anyone could record all the picks online on Saturday after submitted by pm to someone who isn't playing. You could get it on paper as well, if there are going to be people playing that aren't in our kdga network.

Sounds like you might get some stragglers signing up in open on Saturday morning?

For anyone who couldn't sign up for this fantasy challenge in person, maybe we should date the pm for sometime before 11am on Saturday morning instead of Friday night.

The question is will the online players list be up to date by 10 or 11 am on Saturday?

You still want to take picks on paper and $5, Rusco? Points start at 0 and 1 pt. for every place you are off for each of your 10 picks. 10 (negative) pt. bonus for picking the champion. Winner take all, least points wins.

Can we make this work where the people who do this online have to p.m. you by 11am on Sat? Or if you are playing, Maybe we could volunteer someone who isn't playing to take the picks. Maybe Mace Man? Anyone who would send him their picks would be good for $5 or a disc. All he would have to do would be copy the pms and post them onto this thread.

Is registration closing on Friday night? If so, will the online players list be updated by 10am Saturday? If that is the case the online participants won't be at a disadvantage.

Does this sound like it will work? Who should we pm our picks to?
