Okay, I'm not going to let the little thing called the internet ("That thing still around?", as my friend Homer would say) stop me.

I've called the Kansan and they're going to get the paper from the 21st and call me back. I'll let you know what they send me.......................

The kid (you're all kids) at the Kansan looked in the August 21 issue and didn't see a story on disc golf. He also asked other people in the office about it, and no one remembered a disc golf story being written.

If Don was mentioned in the article, maybe he would know which paper and issue it was in. Don?????????????

Wow, very strange article. No mention of the PDGA or anything. Of course the store owner was going to say that a $20 disc will fly farther because he'd love to sell more of those. Surprised that he didn't say that those pretty colored discs (more expensive?) fly even farther.

So do we know call him 'Mordical'? Just a thought. Thanks for finding the article.

.......I'm talking about the invention of the frisbee. Sorry Anita, but your version of the beginnings of the Frisbee has to be corrected. Actually it was invented by a staffer in the Theodore Roosevelt administration. Teddy, as he would later be called, was upset that he had made an earlier promise to his party that he would not run for a third term of office (yes, they could do that back then). But the person he wanted to run from his party, Mr. Taft, did win so he was happy, but I digress.................

So Teddy had just finished off a pie that his pleasantly nice looking (they had not yet said, 'very hot') secretary had made for him. A staffer named Bartholomew Frisbee was cleaning up for the President (they didn't clean up then either) and the trash can was on the other side of the room, so he 'tossed' the pie pan into the trash. This action by Frisbee was followed by a beating from Teddy for getting crumbs on the floor of the oval office (the rug had to removed and replaced). However, a young staffer completing her internship by the name of Monica Lewinsky-Whamo told her dad about the incident and he hired Bartholomew the next day. Bartholomew shared an office with Conrad Slinky. they had a great working relationship. The End.

This is awesome stuff on the origin of disc! Truly incredible! I can almost see the urban legend being created before my eyes. Teddy would have shot it in flight though. Bully!

I`m pretty sure my ancestors were doing the pancake toss long before Teddy or Taft were born,anyway us discgolfers don`t care to be associated with the pot smoking KU boys.{even though they won the National Championship}
