Here at our local Disc Course we are looking to upgrade the chains on the baskets ,they are home made and donated . They are OK baskets, better than none, but they do need some upgrading. They baskets need welded so discs don't fall out. The chains need replaced. Right now the chains are too light and have sharp edges on them that tear up discs if you play here often. My question is what size of chain should one get to replace these. Need to look around and price some chain.

Chain Upgrades
Re: Chain Upgrades
I've been over in larned right when they opened the course. I like the layout. Unfortunately mainenance on homemade pins can be very expensive in the long run. Try talking to some people in town to see if you can get some businesses or even the town to put in dga pins or something like that. During the meantime i'd suggest using zipties and some type of mesh netting or a onion bag on the bottom of the pin. If someone has the time and the means try finding pins or photos as a blueprint to rework the pins you have. As for the type or thickness of the chain i'm not really sure as to which one it could be.

Some good info on dg chain here.

You can add some heavy wire to the places where the discs fall through. I would say if it's more than one or two places on a basket, some additional work should be done.
