INNOVA GROOVE

Post by carlbren21 »

The first run star stamped Champion Groove will be in stock at lsdiscs by the end of next week (2/5 or 6th). We have plenty coming. Contact me if interested. Here is what Innova says about the groove...

The Champion Groove is our newest Speed 13 Driver. The Groove features an innovative groove on the underside of the rim. This channel allows this speed 13 driver to be molded in lighter weights than our other wide rim high speed drivers. The Groove offers super fast, long, and straight flights. It can be thrown low or high and sidearm or backhand. If the Boss proved to be too much disc for you, get into the Groove. Weight range: 165 to 175 grams.

Ratings: 13, 6, -2, 2

The star Eco Groove with the Green country NT stamp are awesome. Quickly becoming one of my new favorites. They are super fast, with great glide, and just the right amount of turn and fade I wanted.

From what I've heard, these Star Eco Grooves are the bomb and apparently the Champion Grooves are much more overstable in comparison and don't go anywhere. Looks like we have another wide wing driver that varies from turnover disc to overstable pig depending on which run you get.

Yesterday I threw my somewhat stable Champion Boss in to a pretty stiff headwind on hole 13 at Peter Pan (long hyzer). My shot was pin high and just a little left. After this I picked up my friends new 169g Yellow Champion Groove and threw it very similar and had great results. It went 30 feet further and held up nicely with in to the wind. This thing must have some glide or else I wouldn't have put it further than the Boss on what I felt like was as close to an identical throw as I could do.

Point of the story.....I will have two of these in the bag today, one light and one heavy, and see if they can add some distance to my game.

Neither Discraft or Innova seems to be very consistent. Look at those people looking for...First Run Buzzzes, good z-trackers, not overstable-pig-forces, crappy-domey challengers, too-flippy meteors, yellow-or-orange-stable-wildcats, it's really not that consistent.

No matter who manufactures a disc, there will be SOME variation....how much is the point! Much of the variation( Too Flippy meteors! ) is psychosamatic! Yup, it's all in the beholders' mind!
Also, any wide winged disc will have more variation between runs because the length of the wing causes cooling differences , even between colors. (the contraction of the center causes more change in the centerline of the edge) I expect collectors to become more interested in specific runs which stand apart(based on flight characteristics) as wider wing discs become more common.
