Max Distance Discs

Post by Zach Y »

I want to know what all of you throw for your max distance shots?

I throw a Star Destroyer or a Star Wraith for my distance drives...but this weekend for jr. distance comp at worlds i will throw pro destroyers!!! :D
A great shot is when you try it, a good shot is when you don't have the guts to pull it off.

How does the distance competition work? Do you have to throw both directions headwind/ tailwind? Can you change discs? Best of how many throws?

I'd say the best disc depends on the wind direction / speed. Optimal wind would be maybe 20mph from 7 o'clock. Lighter, flippier discs would be much harder to control, but would potentially go farther. Sounds like the R-pro boss, while maybe not the greatest for golf shots, could be ideal for distance.

If you only get so many throws, you might throw a disc that is more dependable. I guess it depends on how tough your competition is. Wiggins would be tough to beat. Regardless of what you choose, flippy plastic thrown on a big anny (with a wind assist) will fly farther than the typical low straight shots thrown with more stable plastic.

If I remember correctly, Wiggins Jr. threw a 165ish champ boss when he went 700+ in the desert.... With your CANNON Zach, I have no idea. Maybe a lighter champ max turned over or a Pink Z Force....
Throw some D's on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm throwing champion wraiths and lighter weight esp surges for distance - but then again I can only hit ~475 when I'm throwing in a field with no strings attatched

Distance at worlds you get 6 throws I believe and you have about a 300 foot fairway the discs must land in in order to count. I remember watching Cory Sharp bomb some discs that didnt even count because they barely missed the field and he finally got one in bounds for about 525
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
