Re: Cherry Street
When I first read this, I misunderstood. I thought were talking about a "backstop" type thing behind the target that would catch discs. After re-reading I saw you mean being in front of the Basket like the bamboo hole at USDGC. That would be pretty sweet.smitty wrote:Idea?
How about making a big "horseshoe" shaped fence around a basket. Design it so that it is 20 feet on each side of the basket and only open from the front. Then plant some kind of vine or something that would take over the fence. Kind of like the crap behind hole 9 long. That would make a pretty cool maybe at a pretty low expense.
Something like this would probably be in the way on hole 5, just chilling out there like itself.
Right now, I would think the best hole for it would be four, but if we lose those trees on hole three, then that would be a good hole for it.

Re: Cherry Street
It would be kind of like the bamboo hole. You would be able to hyzer over the top, or come straight at it.
It would be closed in the back to act kind of like a backstop if you make it in. Or it could just be 2 fences that run along the sides. Something that if you throw a hyzer and don't make it over the fence you are going to have to make a turbo putt.
I still want to make a raised island, I think that would be cool. On the island safe, off the island OB. Even if it was less then a foot high.

Then I forward it to the rest.

Re: Cherry Street

Throw some D's on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cement!
We have the OK from the KDGA to advance on the cement tees. We have the funds in the bank account. The city has given us the OK. The pads are in worse shape then ever. More people are playing this course then ever before.
We need to update our proposal to what we want and act on it.

Re: Cherry Street
My Buddies out at the golf course have been pouring new golf cart paths over the last couple weeks. They are getting a bunch of good experience, I may be able to rope them into helping out.
First we need to figure out what size we really need. 5'x10'? I think that would be more than enough room to make a good approach. Some of us will still start 30' from behind the tee area though.
Also, since the tee signs are already in the ground, we should place the pad so the tee sign does not interfere with a player while throwing. We don't want any broken knuckles out there. I think the temporary tee pad on hole 1 did a good job of this.
We are going to stamp the pads with the KDGA stamp, do we want to put anything else on the pad? Hole number? Distance? WVDGA? City of Winfield? Many possibilities.
What sort of a time frame are we looking at? By the end of July, or During August? Might be hard to throw all of this stuff together before Worlds, since the only date we could do it would be the 25th. But then, it doesn't have to be a weekend, the course may have more traffic then? More help for sure, this needs to be done early morning. I doubt any of us are going to Norton, the 8th of August may be good.
What are the plans to make sure kids don't run by and stick their hands in the wet cement, have someone camp out by every pad all day? I could get some caution tape and t-posts, but I doubt that'd really keep people out.

5 X 10 would be fine out there. The only people that are going to Bitch are going to Bitch no matter what.mrsenortyler wrote:First we need to figure out what size we really need. 5'x10'? This shouldn't be much of a problem. We can pretty much dig the form down anyplace we want. The temp. tee on hole 1 works fine for me as it is. Have you noticed that it is the only tee that isn't worn down into the ground and is playable even when the ground is wet.mrsenortyler wrote:Also, since the tee signs are already in the ground, we should place the pad so the tee sign does not interfere with a player while throwing. I think just the KDGA stamp will be enough.mrsenortyler wrote:We are going to stamp the pads with the KDGA stamp, do we want to put anything else on the pad?
I think that by the end of August would be a perfect goal.mrsenortyler wrote:What sort of a time frame are we looking at?
We are will have to put caution tape up and out. We also will probably need people hanging out around the park most of the day. I think that a couple of people could handle it no problem. Divide the park into 2 sections. We also have several kids that play that would do about anything for a couple of free discs.mrsenortyler wrote:What are the plans to make sure kids don't run by and stick their hands in the wet cement, have someone camp out by every pad all day? Re: Cherry Street
Oh buddy that sounds awesome. Is there enough cash to make alternates also? That would be even more awesome.
Re: Cherry Street
We may want to make plans for changing some holes with all the trees that they are removing. In my opionon hole 2 has been ruined..........
Laying up.......That's for chickens!
