Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
That would be a triple eagle.
A double eagle is called an Albatross. What would a triple eagle be called? Probably a double albatross; not very unique considering it is near impossible. That would be a hole in one on a par 5. I don't know that this has ever been done. Google it.

Do they each play from their lies and take the best score or do they have to play from partner B's shot since he was trying to cover for parner A?
This is a simple question.
As soon as the first player missed, they became a doubles team. They are playing from the first players lie. They would then get to pick the putt they wanted the rest of the hole.
Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
If this came up. The second person would want to throw. If they hit the Ace it would be a quad. birdie. If the shot was close enough to be in putting range and they wanted to go for a triple birdie, that would be an option also. The could also just take the ace and walk away.mrsenortyler wrote:
I also think that there should be an additional stipulation. Player A tees off and aces. There is no reason for their partner to throw. I say, if their partner "stacks" the ace, it should be -3. Rare, but much more impressive than a double birdie. The Double Eagle.
Now the problem would come when they went for the triple birdie and missed. Since the first partner had already finished the hole, I think that the second partner would be on his own. Probably getting rid of the Ace and getting a par.

Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
I didn't follow the triple & quad birdie stuff.
One thing that's weird is that when both players miss when going for double birdie, it's best shot. But when one makes it, the 2nd guy has to finish the hole by himself. Doesn't matter though, like you said they are a doubles team, then become singles unless the first guy misses, and then they become a doubles team again. Make perfect sense...

What the hell are you talking about?
If the first person misses the putt. You are done going for a double birdie, it is impossible. The second player would then come over and try to make the putt to save a birdie. You would be playing normal doubles because of the first miss.
A quad birdie would only happen if both people aced the hole. The would be -4 for the hole.
A triple birdie would take place if partner 1 aced and then #2 got a birdie.
Reread the double birdie post again, I made a slight edit to it. I think it will solve the problem.
Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
Once you play it you will get it. I had a lot of fun the last time we played it. scores can really change and if your down its easy to make a come back. I figure if you don't get it, don't play it.

Yeah, I get it. Now I want to play it. Most interesting formats make the game tougher, but this on offers to make it easier, but there is some risk. On a short course, I can't see too many times you wouldn't want to go for double birdie if your partner can cover for you. You would certainly want the better putter putting second.
I'll take 4 birdies, or a triple eagle, or a double albatross, or a "Condor".

Looks like a few of these are in existence including a 517 yard "ace".

I don't know how much different Carpet and I would have scored playing Double Birdie.
I can only think of 2 times that we probably would have went for it. I don't know if we would have converted it or not. Both times we would of had a putt longer then 20 foot.
I also don't know how it would have worked for Bullfrog being Cali. He would have had to taken a Cali drive everytime. Then he would of had to be given a Cali putt also. I guess he would of had to been full Cali.
Jerry and Tom would have been hosed also. They probably would be the lowest 2 players if you looked at player ratings, yet they were on a team.

I really enjoyed that layout at the grove. I'll definitely be playing it again. I would like to give my partner props for his first metal hit tonight! Go Jerry!

Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
That was pretty sweet, I heard it hit the basket, but was looking the other way. Jerry, don't let me forget I owe you $1!!

Re: Wednesday Night Doubles League
We didn't play well, that is for sure.mrsenortyler wrote:We suck!
What about Jerry nailing 2 huge putts! That was more impressive then the metal hit.
Burley finally takes me down. We had the same score for 3 or 4 weeks in a row, this week he shows me who is the boss!
