grove
Re: grove
I see a couple of easy options.
1- Look down the hole and see what way the chunk of rod is running in the bottom. Pull the pipe out and cut a groove to match the rod. Slide the pipe back in over the rod. That should keep it from spinning, unless lifted up and spun.
2- Attach some kind of bushing to the sign. Stick the the bushing back down into the hole. If the bushing is attached to the sign, it shouldn't spin in the hole to much. Once again if someone tries to spin it, it will.
3- ON the holes that have some pipe sticking up. We could put a 2 X 11/2 fernco reducing coupling.
Basically we are going to have to Redneck Rig somethig to make it work. It isn't going to look to good, that is for sure.

Re: grove
This new course layout sure is fun. I really like the new pin settings. Hole #15 is awesome. I would go out on a limb and say this hole won't be deuced in this pin setting. It's way easier to throw a disc in the water I think. #17's tee makes the hole play about .5 stroke harder too.
The original layout is fun too. I was just getting comfortable with hole #4 in it's long position, having a long putt at three and easy four.
It's kind of nice that some pins are now closer to the next tee pad too. (hole 1 basket to 2 pad)
I'll be playing most of my rounds out here rather than cherry until it gets too hairy. Although, I am sure my 250ft hyzers will be out of practice

Re: grove
I am sure I will be adding to the list tomorrow. I just dug some good replacements out of the basement, I hope they last a while. No more meteor shots on hole 15!

Re: grove
Bullfrog, Smitty and I are going to start a course design group. Just give us a little bit of land to work with, one beer to compete for, and we'll have it knocked out in an hour or two.

Re: grove
SNG, Birdwell and I designed a nice little change of pace 9 hole loop this afternoon.
We tried to bring some trees into play, and give the option to throw some midrange off the tees. I may be doing a little changing to make it play a touch tougher, but I am happy with the way it turned out.
We play these baskets in this order.
1- 1 Short
2- 3 long
3- 4's tee sleeve
4- 4's short sleeve
5- 9's basket
6- 14's basket
7- 2's basket
8- 1's long sleeve
9- 18's basket
We marked the tees with some rocks and bricks we found out there. We are going to paint them bright Orange.

Re: grove
I think the next thing we need to do at the Grove is add extra tees. Have a Red (Rec), White (Adavnced), Blue (Pro) level tee on each hole.
The only problem is that some of the signs would be on the different level tees.
For example.
Hole 1-
Red would be short and and to the left. Throwing up the middle of the cluster of trees on the left of fairway.
White would be the old tee.
Blue would be the new tee.
Hole 2-
Red would be up the fairway about 100-150 feet.
White would be the current sign.
Blue would be back towards 1 shorts pin, it would be the same shot as the other 2 just longer by 100-150 feet.
I think it would be cool to have 3 sets of tees out there as long as they are something people can find and use.
