So we do not get to play any of the new pin placements.

We messed up when we put them in. We did the work before we got the OK from the city. I later called and talked to the main man at the city, and he gave us the OK to use them.

So who is making the call that we cant use them if we move them, Harv. or the city?

I heard someone from the city showed up at the College and chewed Harvs ass for making the changes. Can't really blame him for being a bit upset about that considering he had no clue what was going on.

Also, IMO there IS something wrong with making an easy course hard as hell. That course was put in for families and or beginners. Dillan can't stand playing the grove because of the length, and if Cherry ends up being anything like that he will have no desire to play. I'm assuming most other new players would feel the same.

Attempting to make every hole in Winfield difficult seems a bet selfish, don't ya think?

I really don't think you could make a "difficult" course at Cherry! All I'm saying is, there is nothing wrong with Alt pins on a course!..and for the record, I didn't say "Hard as Hell" I said a little harder..

1st off, Harv was pissed when he first saw they alt. pins or when Rich told him about them.

2nd I don't know if he was chewed out or not. When I first contacted them, wanting to spend some of our club money on the course. Making an information sign, adding a few alts, planting some trees. They seemed to be all for it. He was most upset that there was conflict going on, and he wanted to make sure that Harv wasn't left out on any decisions made to the courses in Winfield.

3rd The new holes are not Hard as hell, for the most part they are not that much longer. We have small bricks in the ground to play from when we want a longer course.

4th The pins will never be in all the new locations. The will either be on all the originals, or alt. between the old and new.

I completely understand. I just hate to see the pins moved because it made for a super easy layout...which was the initial purpose.

I really don't know the whole story, but Rodney said he was there when Harvey got his ass reamed. Typical WVDGA drama I guess. Always 2 sides to the story.

So the original tees are still in the ground and only the pins will be moved? How much more difficult will the course play for the original tees?

I'm really not bitching about the deal...just curious. I don't have a whole lot of time to play much, but Dillan and I had a great time playing that little course and I hate to see it changed.

Hole 1 is behind the 2nd tree. Can still be 2 for a bomber. Probably a 3 for most people. Dylan will probably take 1 stroke more.

Hole 2 is closer to the cedars. It isn't a simple hyzer for big arms, and a tough tunnel for the rest. It is tough for everyone. Probably a three most of the time.

Hole 3 is where it use to be.

Holes 4 and 5 no alt. We have some options that we play. But these baskets will always be where they are.

Hole 6 around the backstop. It plays about the same.

Hole 7 no alt.

Hole 8 has a super short and a longer. The short is the shortest hole on the course, but not an EZ hyzer. The long is past the last pine tree.

Hole 9 over the bridge, and next to the fence. Tougher.

Here are my thoughts on all the new holes vs. the old holes for me.

Old holes iff I had a bad drive, I still had a putt for a 2, and a super EZ three.

New holes, it will take a good drive to get a 2, they are still pretty simple 3's.

For a newer player.

Old holes, they make a good drive, throw a shot up shot, make a long putt they get a 3 or 4

New holes, make a good drive, make a good fairway shot, have a putt for a three or 4.

We are talking an increase in distance of probably 350 feet on the entire course.

Gotcha. From what I had heard the entire course was changed and made a hell of a lot more difficult. Guess that's not the case. I look forward to checking it out.

Harv didn't get his butt chewed. He was asked about what his opinion was of the new course. I was called in by my boss, who was the one who went down and talked to him. Then he came back and told me he had also looked at the new pin placements and said they were fine AS long as they could be mowed over! The park department doesn't mind, they would however would like to know, before things are getting done. They just don't want to say yes to something before they have spoken to Harv, because Harv has worked with the city for so many years. But to make it clear nobody at the city is mad about anything.

I also think that Harv should have a say in anything that goes down disc golf related in Winfield.

Bullfrog and I played a round this afternoon. It was interesting to say the least.

I went 2, 8, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 9, 4 = +8

Bullfrog went 6, 3, 4, 4, 4, 2, 4, 3, 5 = +9

Man your hand gets cold when it is 7 degrees out, and you putt 7 times.

2K rang up #9. From the short tee to the long pin. It was a great shot. To bad it was the third try.

Should 2K submit this to the Kansas Ace Report?
