I'd consider a bit of a redesign even though I like the grove. The main thing that could be improved is to put the trees more into play.

Joel and I went down to the grove to wade the banks and rake for some discs. No luck at all. I did put some tire ruts in the right fairway up by the basket on hole 15. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Did you see our work along 15's green? That should save a disc or 2.

Here would be my tweaks, if we wanted to use pretty much the same layout. I think that we could make the course play several strokes harder. There are so many holes out there that you throw a long drive, throw an upshot, and drop in. Most of the upshots are all about the same length. If you use on or across a road as OB, you can add another level of difficulty to the course.

Hole 1- Plays pretty darn good. You have to make a good shot to have the EZ 3. It has only had a couple of 2's. If anything I would add a short pin closer to 14th street, where it is at the Frizzz.

Hole 2- Isn't a very good hole. Most people are going to get a three almost every time. I would love to move the basket closer to where 3's tee is. Make it so you had to throw a long drive, then an anhyzer upshot.

Hole 3- I would like to move the tee to the left (as you look at the hole) about 30 foot, or make it longer. The "tunnel" is nice, but not super hard to hit. Move the tee back a little, and the hole gets more narrow. If 2's basket was moved, you would have to move the tee. Move it east, and you have a great anhyzer shot. The tunnel is gone, but now the road is in play.

Hole 4- I killer like it is. Only real option would be to add a short pin.

Hole 5- As it plays now isn't bad. I do think you could turn it into a shorter anhyzer shot that would add a new shot to the course.

Hole 6 is a good hole. I would love to walk across 14th, and play a bomb all the way to the Bridge.

Hole 7 is no good. Play down a road the entire way. The only good thing about 7 is the pin location. I would play hole 6 backwards as 7 if you went across 14th.

Hole 8 is a cool hole. There is some trouble to be had for sure.

Hole 9 isn't a bad hole. I do think it is to easy of a 2. I would move the tee back a little bit. That would bring the 2 trees you tee from into play, and force a more controlled long drive.

Hole 10 if the trees ever grow will get better. I don't know how you could change that hole much. Maybe move the pin to the crazy tree to the east.

Hole 11 Is a cool hole. I do think moving the basket longer would make it tougher. Now if you hit the trees that guard the opening it is still a pretty ez 3.

Hole 12 is a cool hole, minus the footing.

Hole 13 doesn't suck. I do think you could hide the basket a litte better in the trees.

Hole 14 pretty cool minus the footing at the tee pad.

Hole 15 best hole on the course. Only thing you could do is move the basket a little longer. If you hit the big tree to the left, it is a pretty simple putt.

HOle 16 move the tee closer to the river and move the basket to the other side of the ditch.

HOle 17 I don't know. It is only a 310 foot hyzer.

Hole 18 pretty cool hole.

I like grove but my biggest problem is i dont play it often . When i do play it I know i wouldnt beable to find the tee pads . I would either put tee signs out there or pads of some sort. Even just a marker anything for the people that dont know the course. . Other than that I like the course it reminds me of one i lived by in Lafayette In. Lots of mature trees and grass .

We've played tons of different holes out at the grove over the years at the friz. They used to be, for the most part, longer and better than more recent friz courses. There are a lot of different options with this place. Maybe without even having to add / change too many baskets.

As to the permanent course, I can't remember all the holes. That is unusual for me.

I agree though. If you have a low crush, you may make some birdies. If your drive is short, you will struggle. For the average advanced player though, most of those holes are 3's all the time.

If I were redesigning it, I want some more variety. It does have some good holes now. I'd add a couple short par 2.5 holes. Just for length variety. Not duece or die, but duece or don't. I'd make some more shorter par 3 holes that bring the trees into play and both birdie and bogey are equally possible. Add some long par 3.5 holes (already has some of these). It is hard to force doglegs out there, so true par 4's would be difficult. You can always try to add difficulty around the green. 15 and that other hole with the diagonal trees running parallel to the river have some pretty good greens.

Burley found the missing sleeves. I am going to try and clean the mud out of them before league on Sunday.

I am going to use a spoon and stick method. If anyone has a better idea, bring your idea and give me a hand on Sunday. I will be out there about noon.

A good way would be stick a pressure washer down there and blow that crap out. I guess you'd need a water tank too. Probably not easy enough..

They are stuck in the ground. A power washer would work good, but who is going to get muddy?

Sleeves are clean. Took a smaller pipe with a thin wall and slammed it into the hole. Pulled the mud out and made some fake dog poo.

Big thanks to Terry for finding the sleeves, that was the hard part. The Grove now has 18 baskets again.
