Cherry Street Workday
Cherry Street Workday
Copy of Response from Mark Olney
I asked about a tractor and operator.
Yes, I’m planning on it. Not sure who it will be yet as I will be out of town that weekend for mothers day.
Do you think you’ll need a truck? What about a sod cutter?
I asked about trees
As for trees: We’re not choosey on what variety it is as long as they are ones that are on the KS preferred tree list and recommended for our area. I’m not sure what size we are talking about but we haven’t had much luck with smaller trees. It’s just hard to get them established. We would do our best to water them but to be honest I just couldn’t guarantee it.
Here is that tree list

Re: Cherry Street Workday
Here is the short list of what needs to be done next week.
Purchase the lumber:
Need someone with a pick-up. I would take mine, but the 10 footers may stick out pretty far.
Order the Cement
-Make sure it can be there early Saturday morning.
Cement forms made.
-Basically cut 9 2 X 4's in half and screw them together.
Figure out where to put the tees if we want a change. Holes 3, 4, 9 are the pads we are thinking about changing.
Dig a hole for the forms.
-This should be done probably no earlier then Thurday.
Place the forms:
-Level them
-Sand them
-Add fencing
No sooner then Friday.
Who Plans on helping on Saturday.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
I can get the lumber.
I looked at 3 again yesterday and think moving it left, and making it longer will be pretty sweet.
Didn't pay attention to 4 though.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
I vote for 4 being moved straight back, and over the sidewalk. Same shot, just a little longer.
I would be all for turning it into a right handed swooping hyzer, maybe look at moving it back and left.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
If we are going to move some pads, we should ask about getting some grass seed for when we fill in the old pads with dirt. The only grass seed I have is buffalo, and there isn't any of that at Cherry.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
I don't think it will take long for the grass/weeds to take over the dirt patches.
We should for sure throw some of our extra dirt in the worn spots. I am sure they will give us about anything we ask for.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
Marked out some options on 3, 4, 9.
9 is the only change that I am really happy with.
Hole 3 I think is better. The thing you need to notice is that the first pine is completely dead and will probably come out this summer.
Hole 4 will force a hyzer shot for right handed players.
Here is what we have:
Hole 1 Neutral and fine.
Hole 2 Straight, tall hyzer either way.
Hole 3 Low slight turnover shot.
Hole 4 Long swooping hyzer shot.
Hole 5 Short and neutral.
Hole 6 Short slight turnover shot.
Hole 7 Anhyzer shot.
Hole 8 Neutral
Hole 9 Long anhyzer shot.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
I do not know for sure but the large pine that protects the basket is dying fast. I would guess that they will be taking it out soon and then the hole is a simple hyzer shot. We may want to take a look at this tee pad......

Which Hole?
I liked what Smitty has marked out for 4 and 9. I think 3 needs to be longer and left more.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
Sorry, it was late. I was talking about hole 7. Maybe moving it closer to the sidewalk would make it a straight or RHBH anny shot.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
I looked at a little longer on 3. I did want to kind of stay out of the way of 2's alt.
I think 7 will be fine, even if the pine come out. There will still be a big tree that will knock some discs into the road. Couple that with the changes to 3 and 9, you may be looking for a hyzer shot.

Oh Hole 7? That tree is toast. I'd like to see someone light a match to it, it'd go fast!
On Hole 7 I plan on planting a tree soon also. Just gotta figure out which kind.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
Jake and I went out and played the new layout last night. Just a few thoughts.....
Hole 2: There is a big branch in the center of the tunnel hanging down pretty low. I took a look and found that it is broken will soon need to be removed.
Hole 3: I assume the pine directly in front of the box will be coming out soon. I think it is a good location.
Hole 4: Makes for a nice hole.
Hole 7: Played it a couple times last night and realized that the smaller tree just to the right of the pavillion has grown alot and that in a couple years it will completly take away the hyzer shot so the dead pine is really a non issue.
Hole 9: There were no markers in the ground so we played just north of the tree behind the normal tee pad. We were about 5 feet off the sidewalk and it provided a nice tunnel or a wide open anhyzer shot. If that is where you had in mind it is a great hole.
We may need to look at moving stone on 3, 4, and 9 now also.

Re: Cherry Street Workday
Moving the stones is not going to be a problem.
As far as the branch in 2, take it out if you can.I have a pole saw if you need that.
