You'll get over it, eventually.. If your playing casually you don't have to play the hole like it was designed, and nothing about these posts had anything to do with anyone but you bitching about maybe losing a 15 dollar disc and how the economy is tight and you can't afford league anymore but you'll gladly give 5 to someone for a disc they return or even a new disc that you dyed. Your full of excuses, (refer back to the first of this post if you feel like ranting about the same issue for another two months, or if you feel the need to justify yourself for the 200th time)

I hope at that price you're either paying for a fundraiser or a custom dye.

For the type of player that Lizard is talking about though it may have to do. That's precisely why the disc companies make that kind of plastic available. I can't really have much sympathy for someone who loses a premium disc that they paid retail for in a water hazard when there are cheaper options available, including the next to free discs that others have put in the drink and never retrieved.

I think it's a learning process, you'll never make it if you don't try.

You know if you could tell the differance between some one complaining and some one trying to make a valid point and constructive critisisum of a hole on the course You might not come across as such a jerk. Let me use one of my favorite quotes from the movie stripes. "lighten up francis"

Your right those discs would be perfect for beginers . Unfortunetly alot of people don't even know where to get cheap disc . I know alot of "newer" players that only know of getting discs at the sports stores and out of mike car if they happen to be at oak on a thursday evening. One of my friends didn't even know that Playit again sports had discs. But like you said those discs are the way to go for throwing around water hazzards.

I haven't played the new Derby yet so don't know about this hole in particular, but BOTH of you guys (Lizard and Fluffy) should read this article. It is pretty interesting.

I think the only one that is a seasoned player that has a problem with the holes in question at derby is Lizard. Granted, I have lost plastic in the ponds at derby, and oak, and mulvane, and yadda yadda. But loosing plastic no matter what it costs is a hazard that seasoned players, beginners, and even pros face when playing. I watched Crispin put a premium disc in the pond at derby. Did he throw a fit, and start yelling that hole is unfair? No, he simply took the OB, took a drop, and shot his next shot. Out of all the courses I have played, since I haven't been to colwich, or much futher then Mulvane to play, Derby is the toughest. Always has been. So lizard, if you are worried about discourging new players from playing ever again, or going to derby ever again, maybe you should tell them they need to wait till they are a little better, have a little more accuracy and control before attempting to shoot derby. I think that when hopper and the other people did the new design for derby, they did a superb job on all the new holes, they made a good challenging course that is more of a skill level of players who have been playing long enough to have their technique, acuracy, and control down. Would I personally take some one brand new to the sport to derby to play? No, not untill they have had atleast 10 rounds under their belt, and got some control goin on, and maybe even already felt the agony of loosing a disc or two at some where like Oak in the pond on 6 or 16, or 18. Or in the river at Oak or Hermin Hill. You make it sound like the only place people loose plastic is at derby in a pond on a fairway that adds a challenge even for seasoned players to work on their anny and hyzer, their control, their accuracy, and their power level. And the only place I know of that you are going to spend more then 12 to 13 bucks for a premium disc in wichita is with you lizard. I can pick up pro and champion Wraiths at play it again, Brand new for 12 to 13 bucks, at dicks for 13 bucks, the third planet in the mall( town East) for 12 bucks, sports unlimited for 13. And that is the price for wraiths, valkyries, vikings. Pretty much any of your premium drivers. Mid ranges, fairway drivers, and putters are even cheaper then that. So in closing, let me say one of my favorite sayings: GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok last time You posted BONE HEAD i told you if you wanna get personal do it in person. I HAVE SAID OVER AND OVER. I DON"T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE HOLE. I haven't thrown a f@ucking fit about $hit. I am only stating that for beginners the hole needs to be looked at .. You F@cks that read into $hit way to much are taking my comments at turning them around like ITS MY PROBLEM. I am only trying to stand up for those who do have a problem with the hole and dont post on here. Stop turning this back at me as if i have lost a f@cking bag full of discs . I haven't and don't give a crap if the seasoned player does. but when Newbies play a course and then swear off that course because of bad design then there is a problem.. And yes the artical that was posted is great . I have that copy of disc golf world mag that the origenal artical was in . The hole is a dumb hole.

Oh and BONE HEAD get your facts right Mike had nothing to do with the design of the course. And to those who did design the course .. I LOVE IT .. (but) 17 still needs some thing done.

I think it's hilarious how you think you have to justify every comment made, makes being a "jerk" worth it.

Why don't you guys lay off and quit being nerds about this whole thing?

I haven't had the chance to go back out to Derby since it's been redesigned so I really can't comment on how the hole plays...

I don't think we should only be designing courses only catered to beginners, we are trying to improve the access to courses around the Wichita area. While having lots of beginner friendly courses will probably help people initially be interested, it will also cause people to burn out quickly as they're not challenged at all. Of course, maybe that's what everyone wants.. who doesn't love the idiots at Oak who don't have a clue and trash our courses?

I don't necessarily agree with the design of a very narrow fairway with dangerous OB on the right, and jail on the left... but as I said before I haven't been out there so I can't judge.

You guys are entitled to your difference of opinion, but attacking other people on the board doesn't do any good, grow up.... and you wonder why people say Wichita is full of yerks...
