Re: Derby Course
I'm not going that place turns into a Muddy mess when its wet. "I HATE MUD" sure wish it would stop raining long enough for some of the courses to dry out some.

Re: Derby Course
Assuming it's not too wet, Bill mentioned installing the rest of the 18 hole (sleeves) at 9am this Saturday. Baskets in Sat evening or Sunday morning.
Last workday at Derby, Bill didn't get much help. If you are able, come out and help put in some baskets. I'll try to keep info posted as I hear it.

Re: Derby Course
i saw bill and co. finishing the install out at derby this evening due to the expected weather this weekend. should be a pretty sweet 18. next step should be concrete tee pads.

Cool. Who was his company? New golf holes-- Sweet!
League is scheduled for Thursday the 25th, I believe.
In case some didn't know, the ACDGC bought the baskets for this course. Derby agreed to pouring tee pads for us once the 18 was finished.

Re: Derby Course
Bill is doing some more work out there today if anyone can help.
Re: Derby Course
If the rain would have held off the city would have had the brush pile chipped and out of the way of hole 7, the dead tree cut down in the middle of hole 9 and the down trees cleaned up and the tee sign posts installed. BUT- it is in, mowed, flagged and very playable. A good score will be a 44 but a 64 is also likely. There are numerous birdie holes, numerous bogey holes. The trouble comes when the birdie hole produces a bogey. More clean up to come next winter so be patient. Enjoy what you have and that is 18 great holes of golf.

Re: Derby Course
Played the course today. It has a many very cool holes for sure. I did seem a bit cramped to me. There are several fairways that are very close together. I am also glad I am not a lefty.
Hole 1 Same shot 250 hyzer
Hole 2 - New hole - Very cool from the tee. Lots of trouble on the way to the basket. I was able to rip a low power hyzer and get a good putt at it.
Hole 3 - New hole - Very cool tunnel shot. Slight left to right shot needed that finishes back left. There is one tree dead square protecting the pin. Just seems to close to hole 2.
Hole 4 - New hole ?- Seems close to the same as old hole 2, just longer maybe. Another hole that I was able to smash a low power hyzer.
Hole 5- First anhyzer hole. Played pretty nice with some trouble near the green.
Hole 6- New Hole- Someone get there and help Bill out. This thing could use some cleaning. I am sure he has plans but ran out of time. I used a low overstable flick shot.
Hole 7- New hole - Long bomb! I didn't throw it, because I didn't want to have to climb up on all the old trees. That is a hella pile and shows how many trees have been removed from this puppy.
Hole 8 - New hole- I went with a tall hyzer that ended up on 9's tee.
Hole 9 - New hole - Could be a legendary hole with a little more work. I couldn't find the "fairway". Looks like it is going to be a long 2 shot hole. If all the little creeks are OB or full, this thing will be a mother!
Hole 10- The coolest looking hole on the course. Reminds me of Hunter Park in Tulsa. Little anhyzer of the creek. My favorite on the course.
Hole 11- Movine the tee closer to the creek would make this thing play tougher. Still a fun little hole to throw.
Hole 12 The long bomber to the corner. Throw an anhyzer over the creek and lay-up for a 3. This is a fun hole to play. If you don't nail your first shot you are going to scramble to get a 3 or 4.
Hole 13- Same old hole. Parking lot to the road. I went with a low zone shot.
Hole 14 - Same hole. If you are right handed, you better lay-up off the tee and take a 3. Unless you have a huge stock of discs.
Hole 15 - Little hyzer over the corner of the pone.
Hole 16 - Much shorter then I remember it being. Stand still uphsot is what I used.
Hole 17 - The bomb the length of the pond. If you come in short and left you are hosed. If you are left handed you are really hosed.
Hole 18 - Same shot down the old road. The trees are really hanging making it a much lower shot then before.
Good improvements to the course. It will be interesting to see how it plays during a tourney.

Re: Derby Course
Played the new corse last night. love it Great job Bill.
Hey Smitty I found the fairway on nine, but never saw it. first shot just chucked one over brush pile, then threw one low and hard, hail-mary style through the trees and ended up with drop in three.
was insane.

Re: Derby Course
I didn't go over the brush pile. I went to the right of it. I remember throwing around the brush pile on 5's tee. I didn't think that you would throw over/around the same pile twice.ranmatt wrote:Played the new corse last night. love it Great job Bill.![]()

Re: Derby Course
Aaron and I went out and played Derby today. Marcus was there and he told us that all creeks are playing OB during league and any tourneys. He also said that being on the "other side" of the creek If tee pad and basket are on the same side is going to also play as OB. That makes hole nine not only a hard figging hole to play but almost dumb because of how narrow the fair way gets and also because in that narrow area is where 1/2 of the trees on that hole are located. I think we need to rethink that hole or its OB rules. With all of that wood pile why couldn't we trim it up and build an old stack style fence to the left in a strait line so that we have a landing area on the other side of the creek where it gets narrow but still have an OB line to seperate hole 4 and 9s fairways?
Other than Hole 9 we thought the course was way cool. Don't trim to much more cause the challenge of some of the over hang really is what makes that course fun and interesting.
