I just played Herman Hill for the first time in about 6 months and noticed that they cut down two trees on hole 1. Why did they cut those trees down? I have been away from the board for a while so if this has been a topic before I apologize.

They weren't dead. I'm no expert, so we gotta let the city do its job. I would like to suggest planting some new trees. Maybe we can find out what was wrong with the ones they cut down.

Yes, Im creatiing my own course here in Lancaster.. Since this use to be part of the desert, trees are scarce.. I've been smoking this amazing pot, that gives you the ability to telepathicly beam objects anywhere in the world....

I'm just guessing but perhaps the trees weren't dead, but they could be diseased or damaged. You have to remember that Parks guys cut trees down for a reason, not just for chainsaw practice.
We have had a number of trees removed at Roper in Lincoln in the last 5 years. These were big trees, too. Those trees had been damaged by a wind storm and an ice storm in recent year and had been weakened. They got some tree disease and had to come down. It completely changed the hole. It's just the way it goes. There is also some pine tree blight going around. That's what is killing the trees on hole #3 in Beatrice for those familiar with that particular hole.
The Lincoln Flying Disc Club has worked with our local Natural Resource District and the Roper family to get a hundred trees planted in Max E. Roper park. Perhaps you could work with a local agency or the Arbor Day Foundation to get more trees planted. Like the old saying goes: When is the best time to plant a tree? 20 years ago. When is the second best time? Today.

O-man... Those trees were not dead. Maybe 1 or 2 out of the 20 or so that were removed were dead. You can that they were living trees by the trunks they left. Why are you persisting that they were?
I'm not saying they didn't come out for a reason. You said yourself, Ronnie, that it can be impossibly to tell a diseased tree. That's what you told me: "it's hard to tell". I don't take that as an answer.
If you notice, I didn't start this thread. I'm just wanting to contact some help to get new trees planted. I've come up with some ideas that would do a lot for the course. It would probably take a long time before any new trees would mature enough to function well in the course design though. Thanks for the ideas Anita.

I wasn't asking myself that question at all as long as you're asking....
Geez, some of you guys sure are sensitive.....honestly....
Any way.... it takes about 10 years for a tree to get big enough to come into play. We had some trees removed just about the time I started playing Roper. We added 4 trees to one hole and 3 on another. Those trees are now catching discs. They are close to the holes so they don't take a direct power throw. They are big leafy trees. Pines would grow faster and would come into play sooner.
